So, I officially need more money. I keep getting these great ideas, and then don't have the money to follow through at the time. Then I get distracted and buy something else. Haha. So more money, more patience, and more discipline. Haha. I've got a new idea for my grill, Platinum takeoff, leave the bars chrome, paint the other bars oxford, and paint the mesh Caribou...

Well, I blew my sub. Not entirely sure what happened. I noticed it making some odd noises and I remembered I didn't install the foam seal that came with it so I assumed I had air leaking around the sub. Put on the seal and it sounded better, but still odd. Ran it a bit and then boom. Made a horrible sound, while I was backing into my driveway no less, and got very crackley. Pulled it out and don't see any signs of carnage, but when you manually move it it's gravely sounding with no travel by pushing on the cone, only by pushing from the back of the cone. I'll have a new one delivered on Thursday, hopefully this isn't a trend...
What I think happened is it didn't get a good seal with the box so it allowed it to become damaged, then after I sealed it it was too late already. Pioneer says when this sub is in a free air condition that it's power rating is 1/4 of it's rated capacity.

I went back with another Pioneer. Is the JL that much better??? It's 3xs the price. Lol. If I tear up this one then either the sub is junk (possible, but not likely), or there's a short somewhere (possible, not likely since there's no odd sounds). Normal use from that Alpine amp shouldn't be blowing up subs that are rated at the same power rating. I debated switching but I didn't see anything that seemed like it would be a lot better. If I blow this one I just might go with the JL, although when/if I upgrade the door speakers and go all out I'll likely switch to an under seat box and run full depth subs.

not sure about the pioneer one. but the difference between the kicker comp one I ran compared to the jl is night and day. I should have known to stick with the jl. I'm going to redesign the box for behind the seat to fit a jl 10tw3v4. I'm still drawing it up in autocad to make sure it has the correct volume.

Gave the truck a little TLC on Saturday. Wash, clay, wax, leather conditioner, and cleaned/protected all the plastics inside. I didn't grab any pics of the inside, but I also forgot to clean the inside of the windows. Oops. Lol
