Well round 2 of taillight tinted has taken an un-expected turn.......bought a can of VHT Nightshades (local NAPA) to tint just the U-bar chrome outline. Taped it off, painted and removed the tape. Then a couple "blotches" appeared and I cleaned the fresh tint off with some paint thinner and to my surprise, the area I sprayed was still lightly tinted, like 60% or so. I thought, cool, do the same for the other side (this is where I wish I had gotten a pic). Well that was a fail as the tint on the second light didn't take like the first. So cleaned 'em all up, scuffed them and lightly tinted them. Much lighter than last go round. Getting ready to buff them and install. What a chore......

That's a LOT better. Good job Jon. Why Ford insisted on that stupid chrome thing is beyond me.
12th gen was bad enough, 13th gen is just unforgivable.

Thanks Jon! I agree, it looks horrible. Other vehicles have all red taillights, the clear portion is not required by law. This is the perfect mix of a light tint and still clearly visible output.

Thanks! It really is the perfect % of tint IMO.

Had a member PM me an offer for his dark grey steering wheel trim piece. Needless to say, it will be heading this way. Now I gotta figure out the color, since there is several greys so I can consider door handle pulls and vent trim pieces. Trying to break the black up a little.

So my FIL and I are restoring our 1988 28' Sun Tracker Party Barge. It has been on dry land for 2 summers now. We re-decked with marine grade plywood, carpet kit from Overtons and numerous other additions such as stereo, speakers and lighting. Went to test the trailer lights tonight as we plan on a "second" maiden voyage on Saturday. Was pretty awesome to set up the trailer, name the trailer, the gain for the brakes and all that stuff. Even told me I had a bulb out on the trailer right turn signal. Seems like a lot of tech for an XL model.......LOL

Also got my steering wheel trim in the mail today. Will be nice to break up some of the black.
