Default 06 xl stocky build

Hi everyone, i've been enjoying seeing everyone's builds so much that it inspired me to throw my own up here for the community to see-

when i bought it, it was completely stock

---------------------------------------

---------------------------------------

I had to take the hubcaps off because they were squeaking and it was driving me nuts but once i did i found a lot of rusting on the factory rims.

So my solution was to strip sand and repaint the factory rims to make em look a lil more my style!

---------------------------------------

--------------------------------------

not too bad for 150 dollars and some sore arms from sanding!

--------------------------------------
Bed Armor bedliner

--------------------------------------

Tinted Windows: 35% fronts 5% backs (Go Illini!) and Diamond Plate bed tool box

--------------------------------------

--------------------------------------

I have since decided to make the painted rims my "winter rims" and ordered in a set of Liquid Metal Coil 6 20 inch rims which will have more show/street performance tires and i will be putting a set of more agressive tires on the painted rims later on

***more images to come***

--------------------------------------

Sound System Courtesy of a Pioneer cd/dvd(even when not in P) with 7 in touch screen, Alpine amp (under pass seat), 2 10 in type r subs in a crappy box while i decide on a more permanent enclosure though this has actually done well with the passenger seat sandwiching it against the back of the cab

--------------------------------------

--------------------------------------

Upcoming Mods :

replace factory antenna with a smaller carbon fiber one
Nerf bars but unsure of style yet
more creative sub enclosure
possibly some chrome accents
inherited a bumper with 04-05 fog holes and i want to put that on but not sure if i want to tackle that project (will take advice from anyone that's put factory fogs where there were none prior)

-------------------------------------

so that's my truck i hope you enjoy it -- i will update once i get more done!

I've got the big (5.4l I think) v8... Dealer told me it was the smaller (4.6/4.7l?) but I didn't check oops... Gas mileage sucks but it'll haul a load like its just got a feather in the back!

update: i have now gotten the tires and rims mounted onto the truck and put a smaller profile antenna on

before
after

next updates when i get the shackle leveling kit on (any suggestions on the kit with shims vs the kit without shims? or if it'd be better to lift the front rather than drop the back with my current setup. Any opinions welcome. ) and who knows once the weather warms up i may do some plasti dipping for a boredom killer

Thanks! I've enjoyed working on it over the winter and now that it's warmed up i can start the last few things i'm doing to it.

Just ordered in black raptor wheel to wheel nerf bars. I'm going to paint my toolbox black to match the rest (plasti dip you are my new best friend!) and I just finished Plasti Dipping my rocker panels for a multi function look/protection setup that if i don't like i just peel off woo!

before--

after--

I can't seem to get a good picture that doesn't make it look like i just photoshopped off the bottom of my truck so that was the best one i had that still showed a lil contrast. I keep looking at it with the chrome bumpers with the silver/black look and i feel like it might look better with a body color top bumper cover and not a plasti dipped chrome bumper but maybe a black chrome look like some of the new rims that are out there... who knows... i don't like to do too many fully permanent things to the truck so i probably won't end up doing that...

This is addicting and i am running out of money -- send donations to my paypal account! lol

Haven't updated in a while, added the sidesteps and a decal I found -- think I'm finally done.... For now
