redlinedfx4's 2017 STX build
This is the first full size pickup owned, and only the second pickup truck out of the 20 some vehicles I have owned. When I found out I was moving to Texas it made me buy a truck. Growing up in Illinois I never liked the idea of a 2wd truck but I just couldn't afford or justify the 4wd trucks when I was going to live in Texas. Anyway, its an STX without many options except running boards, a hitch, and maybe one other thing. I bought it with 1500 miles, it was used as a managers truck so I saved a few bucks. First thing to add was a livernois tuner which I put on at about 15,000 miles. I'm running their 93 octane performance tune which I absolutely love. I debate whether its worth it or not to run the 93 octane since I generally do not drive very aggressively but depending on who you ask, these motors were really designed for 93 octane anyway. The shifting improvement alone is worth the cost of the tuner. Today I got my wheels and tires that I ordered from customoffsets.com. They are Hostile Alpha wheels in 20x9 with a +12mm offset. These stick out the perfect amount for my liking. For tires, I'm running Nitto Ridge Grappler 295/60/R20. These tires are in a category between an AT and MT. They are very quiet on the road, yet look pretty aggressive IMO. I have a 2.5" leveling kit installed in order to help clear the bigger tires. I did have to trim my weather tech front mud flaps and also cut off the front and rear crash bars to clear the tires.

Yesterday I installed the auto spring 2" rear block. I ordered it with the front leveling kit but was on the fence about installing it because I thought it would give too much rake. Auto spring did not offer a rear block smaller than 2", I was actually thinking a 1" would be perfect. However I didn't want to order another set up before trying this one. After installing it I love it and think its perfect. Install took about 2 hours. It was very simple, but from my experience, installing anything takes at least 2x what the directions say. I also finished my trimming of the front wheel well so I have no more rubbing. On the front side of the wheel well, their is a 5.5 mm screw holding the felt liner to a plastic thread insert, I had to sawzall that tab that holds the female thread insert off and trim the felt a little bit (in addition to the crash bars front and rear). So far it seems I have lost at least 2mpg with the bigger tires, maybe a little more which I was expecting.
