We are really liking the Escape. It's pretty comfortable for its size, has all the bells and whistles and I'm very impressed with that little 2.0EB. We did get a custom fitted sun shade for the windshield to protect the dash from the sun when she parks at the airport. The dash is HUGE!!!! I'm taking it next week to have the front windows tinted to match the rears. I'm sure there are those out there that think we are crazy BUT we bought the LIFETIME/UNLIMITED MILEAGE warranty through Ford. Covers everything( just about)! We thought it would pay off in the future because of all the electronics. Warranty was $4K!

I don't think that's crazy, if you keep them a long time, IMO, it's worth it. I'm thinking of the SE trim, with the appearance package, I don't recall being able to get that in the SEL or Titanium, and the only engine is the 1.5 Ego. They all come nicely equipped, and it'll be my wifes anyway. She keeps saying the last 50 years that she doesn't care about how nice a car is, that is, I've found, unless it's hers.
LOL she took a photo of a HellCat Challenger a little while ago, and she liked that!!! NO WAY!!!!!! She hasn't a clue what she was looking at.

Are you looking at a brand new Escape or a pre owned. Ours is a '15 and had 33k on it.

Unless I run into an exceptional deal, it'll be a new one. I get Fords on the retirees plan, and it really saves some dollars. Both my brothers retired from Ford. I've never had any luck with anything preowned, but with that warranty like you got, I could see how that would turn into less worry for me.
With an Escape, I think the chances might be better as to getting one that hasn't been ridden hard and put away wet, they aren't the type of vehicle some kid might have leased, so, possibly it may be preowned. Talked myself more/less into it, eh?

Last new car we bought was an '05 BMW! Too much depreciation with new vehicles these days. When we bought the 150, we figured it had enough miles on it to be "kind of proven"! Same with the Escape, if that makes sense! If something's going to have a catastrophic failure due to manufacturing, it's likely to happen fairly early on.

Yes,that makes sense, I can attest to that. My wife bought an '09 Fockus in '11, a lease return, I couldn't talk her out of it. Car at 46K, trans went. Now, her '15 Fockus, same thing, get this, at only 22K! Both were the 6 speed that Ford had/has problems with. On the '15, she got into that class action lawsuit against Ford. I did zero research on the '15, or she wouldn't have gotten that one, completely my own fault, but does prove your point. I have looked at the Escape, and found it's a different 6 speed, so at least I'm confident there.

We were looking at a Focus until you told me about the trans. Got me to researching and said no way. Completely different unit in the Escape.

Well! I'm at it again, changing things up a little. So, I ordered a different bug deflector that sits tighter to the hood and is matte black so it won't be so obvious when it gets little scratches in it from scrubbing the bugs off of it. This one does not cover the top section of the chrome grille surround so now I'm going to have too much chrome on the front end again. I'm gonna do the surround in graphite Peel Coat to match the center section. Too hot today, but SOON!

That PeelCoat is nice stuff. A tip I learned of is to spray a few coats of plastidip black first, then the Peel Coat. I think that stuff sprays nicer, and has some gloss to it. I used it on my fender badges, and it seems to match my running boards.
