The red clearance lights showed up today. I tested them and extended the tires on the two I’ll be using. After thinking it over, I’m going to wire them in to the license lamps. Storms will be here soon so an install today is out of the question. I also need to locate my touch up paint to coat the holes after I drill them. The grommets fit tightly into the holes but I don’t want to chance any rust down the road. After the install, I might even hit the back sides with some Flex Seal or similar for extra protection.

That's the same thing I did when I put in those lights under the tailgate. I sprayed the snot out of them from the backside.

I love that Flex Seal stuff. That’s what I used on my bug deflector and it’s cleans up nicely and I pressure wash the crap out of it. Very durable stuff. I might even redo my bumpers with it.

Default Need opinions on clearance light placement.

I’m going to be installing the rear (red) Raptor style clearance lights this week and would like some feedback before I drill holes. Looking at images online, the Raptors in my body style ( I’m guessing that’s a Gen1 Raptor ) have the clearance lights mounted facing the rear, directly under the tails. The newer gen Raptors have them more into the corners of the bed, NOT facing completely rearward. I kind of like that look better and think it would flow better with what I did for the fronts. What Y’all think?????

I think I'd face them straight out. I'd be afraid if drilling a hole on the corner, the grommet might not fit.

I thought about that. I think the Raptor bed corners have an indent for the lamp to sit in. I really do want to go with them in the corners though. I might just bend a piece of steel to match the radius of the bad corner, drill it and test fit the way the grommet sits in it. They do snap in pretty tight so it may conform to the bend. Might have to experiment a little.

Ya, trying out on a piece of scrap is a good idea. If it works, do it. Should look good.

I think it would look better on the corners. Definitely test fit on a piece of scrap first. If you can't get it to sit right, it will look fine straight on too.
