The problem I've seen with the high mileage tires is the compound can be to so hard that when the tires get a few years old it takes nothing to make them spin. I had some Yokohama's some time ago and they did indeed last a long time. or at least the tread did.

The problem was in a little rain or snow they became dangerous, especially in colder temps. This was some time ago, so perhaps that isn't the case any longer. I'm curious, how well were the old tires sticking?

Mike

The old tires actually stick pretty well. We (I) drive some pretty windy roads and never really had a problem with them breaking loose. Since the tune, they will spin on takeoff if I put it to the floor.
I just got back from Discount. Got them all ordered up and they should be here tomorrow but I won't have a chance to have installed till Tuesday. (4) 275/55/20's, mtd and bal, (4) new TPMS, lifetime FREE rotation and lifetime ( pro-rated ) road hazard warranty for $1396.40 out the door. Tires have 80k tread wear warranty. I thought it was 60k!

You would probably get 100K miles out of those. I also agree with you, not that it matters but why change brands if you've had success.
yeah, the ones I ordered today are the "plus" version, 80k warr. My old ones had the 60k warr. Still went 80k! 4/32" remaining before wear bars at 81,900 miles.

Didn't hear from Discount Tire today so I'm assuming the new rubber hasn't shown up yet. No problem, not installing till next Tuesday. I figured now was the best time to go out and have a little fun with the "loud pedal"! HeHe! T.C. off, Pedal Commander on Sport+#4 with the i3 tune = lots of chuckles!
Its been a while since Ive had a vehicle that gets rubber in second gear and a little noise in third.
