My Sterling Gray FX2 Build
#12
Installed LED bed lights I got last Christmas from my Dad, when I was driving a Colorado. Never installed them in that truck, they were too long anyway! The SwingCase also came out of the Colorado and mounted right up in the F150, although I'm sure it's a little smaller than the ones designed for the F150. Pretty pleased with the outcome.
Middle pic shows where I put the switch for the bed lights. Perfect location out of the way imo.

Cleaned her up yesterday and added the aftermarket OE-style halogen projector headlights about a month ago. So far pretty happy with the output considering it's not HID, so I'll most likely stick to this setup for simplicity's sake. Been down the retrofit road before using all Morimoto parts and still had problems. If it wasn't the bulb, it was the ballast. If not the ballast, the hi/lo shudder. Oh well, I'm happy with it as is for now and love the new look! Sorry, I know it's not the best pic.

These are the exact headlights I bought, though it says they are currently unavailable. I know Morimoto has some LEDs they've designed specifically for projector lenses, but I've heard nothing good about LED bulbs in headlights just yet - unless we're talking OEM options.

Scored a sweet deal today, though it may not be on for long, as I have come across a used Undercover Lux, which is my first choice in hard bed covers. Regardless, I picked this up today for next to nothing - all the guy wanted in exchange was my old OE halogen FX headlights and my OE all-weather floor mats. So this didn't cost me a thing out-of-pocket.
While I do like the look, it is a heavy cover and cannot be easily removed in a pinch and does not allow my SwingCase to be used, as the hinges hang down in the way. The Undercover is light enough for me to remove by myself (though still not ideal) and does allow use of my SwingCase.
So I may be going Wednesday to pick the Undercover up. If I do, this thing will be going up for sale in its place. Either way, I feel like I got a great deal seeing as the headlights and floor mats aren't worth near what this thing should sell for. Sorry about the bad pics - didn't clean it up or anything before posting.

Thanks! I want Katzkin in the future.
Some things I have done but didn't mention:
Window tint all around - limo on rear doors and rear windshield, 20% fronts.
Straightened the rear bumper - still a hair off so I might continue to tinker with it, but it's only noticed by me.

Odd week for me lol. So I was eying this Undercover Lux tonneau cover before I got the aforementioned LoRider. But since the LoRider essentially costed me nothing, I went ahead and bought the Undercover locally off of Facebook Marketplace for $400. I liked the look of the LoRider, but (1) it was crazy heavy; I recently had surgery on my wrist and I could hardly lift the thing one-handed. This Undercover is maybe half the weight, if that, and (2) I like the styling of the Undercover. It's a little more low-profile. So now the plan is to sell the LoRider and recover at least part of the cost of the Undercover. So it will be up for sale in the classifieds if you're interested!
Also, I got to messing around with the front valance. It's been my least favorite thing about my truck since day one - I just don't like the "double chin" of the FX2s. So I took the end caps off and was left with the middle valance, which is different than regular 2wd valances, so it didn't look right by itself - I knew this going in. So I decided to trim it. While I do feel like I made a pretty clean, even cut and got it to look the best it could, it just looks incomplete to me. So I've ordered the OE 4WD lower valance, tow hooks, and boost bars lower grille insert. I know it might seem like a lot of trouble to go to for the truck to still look stock, but that's kind of my style - a "modded stock" look, if that makes sense.
Also added the Builtright Industries rear seat release awhile back and just remembered to post.
Anyway, here's the pics:
^^Front end trimmed. Although I was kind of proud of how clean I managed to trim the valance, it just doesn't look right - it's incomplete, so I'm changing to the OE 4wd valance with black tow hooks as soon as the parts come in. Not worried about my license plate number. Anyone can see it all day long. Can't get much info from it anyway.
^^just another view. A friend's '06 in the background. His truck has 214k on it and still looks pretty sharp considering. Just has the common washed out emblem. Those running boards are probably coming off soon.
^^Undercover Lux
^^Undercover Lux 2. That taillight trim really sticks out in this pic - might have to do the painted edges mod. Don't mind the shadow lol
^^Builtright Industries seat release. Yes I know I could have done it myself for pennies. This looks OEM and quality is top notch.
^^A little hidden sticker back behind the rear seat

How did you go about removing the chin spoilers on the front bumper? I took a quick look on mine and it looked to be easier to remove the front bumper to get to it. Did you go this route? Also, price and part numbers for 4x4 valence and tow hooks please as im looking to go this route as well
