Default General Update Part 1

Update for work done over the past few months - PART 1:

Purchased and installed the different control panel for the steering wheel. This was in preparation of my gauge cluster swap. I chose the slightly harder route of prying out from the wheel instead of pulling the airbag.

I then bought an XLT cluster from eBay that had a slightly higher milage than mine but most of the same features - mainly V8 4x4. then carefully tracked my milage till I hit the exact number - including 10ths.

Then just like my keypad door handle I had to bust out the FORSCAN laptop and tweak a few things

Default General Update Part 2

Update for work done over the past few months - PART 2

Finally bought and installed my power rear window. So for this I actually swapped the ENTIRE headliner over to an XLT one. I redid the tan it came in to jet black. I then also purchased different vanity mirrors and the overhead console. was prewired for everything so by simply plugging in the switch in the motor had power.

For the installation of the window I removed the nuts from the inside and just kept pressing on the window in different spots till the sealant let go. Once it was out I did an extensive cleaning of the mating surface to ensure the new sealant wouldn't leak.

One of my amps was in the way of the motor. No photo of it but I remounted the amp further to the right so the motor fit.

Default General Update Part 3

Update for work done over past few months - PART 3:

Last month I wrapped the hood and grille in a carbon fiber pattern

Earlier this month I also got around to my BOSS 302 intake. For anyone installing this I HIGHLY recommend buying the Mustang coolant hose. Disconnect your F150 one from both ends (firewall connection is bit of a pain) and install the Mustang one. It wraps around the back and down the driver's side. This means you don't have to cut the F150 one and try to extend it.

I broke one of the fittings (They are seriously only glued on) so I drilled the manifold and drove a brass coupler in.

Two poor quality night shots showing the working SYNC screen from Pioneer headunit and the new two gauge pod setup.

I guess it's 4 inch - not sure of the physical size nor other styles besides this one. I was mainly after the better overall look of the two main gauges. The stock STX is just very plain and doesn't look that great.

What’s your take on the Boss intake? Did you get a tune for it yet? Have you noticed a loss in low end and mid performance?

Initial ramblings:

Intake changed the engine noise substantially. Truck ran without a tune but I only took it around the block and didn't get on it. Truck is currently tuned - I'm using an 87 octane economy from 5 Star. I'll run the full performance tune after I get my headers on. Those are going to be a project in and of themselves. Intake is gonna have to come off so I can lift the block off the motor mounts a small bit........

I'm not sure about low end power loss - I can still get the truck to jump. Haven't been back to the track to retest yet.

True oil pressure via the sandwich adapter we discussed earlier instead of the dummy light and voltage since there wasn't one. Gauges themselves are Glowshift - all connections are electrical. No hardline going to the oil gauge.

Glow shift ok, thanks

edit: I don’t remember talking about them but they do look good. I’m trying to find something that matches the FX red ones. This would work.

I think I remember asking about the sandwich plate. What is the thread pitch and sizes? Do you have a link to the plate?
