Well that was uneventful, i wish everything was as straight forward and easy as replacing the rear dampers on a truck (yes, i'm looking at you, front dampers.... )
Out with the old....
And in with the new
I'll have to look into renting some compressors for the front shocks, and maybe look a little at if i should replace any mounts etc. when i'm in there. For now, i'm sure just the rear dampers should greatly improve the ride. Besides, i've got a few more things coming that'll be more straight forward to do than the front shocks....
Let us know what you think about the ride quality. When I was looking at them I read some folks thought the ride was too stiff. I didn't think that the case after installing mine. Then again my originals were shot and I could easily compress them by hand.

Yeah, looks like i'll be heading out in the truck tomorrow afternoon, should know then. There was a definite 'skitter' that the back end did under various circumstances and bumps in the road, so i'm hoping that will be cleaned up some. I haven't tried to compress the old ones by hand yet, but at least they both still extended when i unhooked them both.
I know yours is a 4x4, but curious if your old rear shocks were shorter than the new ones?
I purchased a set of all 4 shocks for a RWD and my stock rear shocks were shorter. I had to get creative with heavy duty zip ties and compressed them enough to install.

So short answer is, i'm not 100% sure...
The 5100's should have come in the nylon straps to keep them partially compressed whilst you fit them, so i don't know their overall length i'm afraid.
If you look closely at the purpleish stickers on the old shocks you can see it says 4x4 on them, so for sure, stock shocks are different between the drive types. Also remember that the 5100's allow for an extra inch extension so you can put a bigger block in the back if you want, so they *must* be longer.
