As the harness arrived today, i decided to get started on the job tonight, figuring that i'd start on the drivers side with the long run of the harness, button up that side and then do all the harness mounting tomorrow with the other side....
I have to say, i *love* the way it looks with the new unit in there, makes it look more sophisticated in my opinion, even removing some of the chrome look to the front of the truck due to there not being a huge chrome/silver reflector inside the headlight.
The stupid part is this: I cannot easily route the harness control box with the long wire mounted/wired into the truck, whilst long enough, i've hit two issues.
1) Getting nice routing is being prevented because the box doesn't fit through small holes, whereas the long wire would have.
2) Somehow, there isn't quite enough length (likely due to the routing taken) in order to mount the box where they suggest mounting it.
Suggested mounting point.
It's important at this point to note that, there is no bolt, or hole on my truck where they show.
My only thought here is going to be drilling a hole in that location, just next to the beige cable mounting clip, and finding a nut and bolt to go through and mount there.
The other side is accessible enough for this, but i was really looking forward to no modifications needed for this plug and play harness.
(The other side of the wire harness clip where i could drill through for a mounting hole)
So, now i've got to pull the driver's side headlight again, undo the awkward ground bolt and unplug the headlight connector, pull it all back through and start with the passenger side
You win some, you lose some
Damn they look nice. Also stupid question anyone know anything about alternators?
Yeah, i'm really liking the look of them, i'll be happier when i pull that light again today (hopefully) and get the harness routed/connected properly!
Erm, a little, what's going on with your alternator?

Well in my gauge cluster today i got the low battery voltage warning, and when i got home i plugged my scan tool in and it was commanind 14.5 volts but only getting 13.7-13.9 which i thought was a little low. I am thinking new alternator?
I ran the self test and the result came back at low circuit voltage. Its a brand new battery and i checked that and of course terminals and everything accompanying the electrical system the only thing it could be is the piece of sh** alternator that i replaced. It was a cheap. Probably some road salt got into the armature assembly inside and corroded it. that only thing i can come up with. Plus its making a ticking noise now coming from the alternator. So thats what leading me to believe its that

Oh, well then yes, that's the current smoking gun i'd say.
