I didn't think he'd use it. If you look behind the truck, you'll see the olde bed for my Ranger, I "still" haven't hauled off. I need Zach over here, he'll clean it up!!

Thanks Zach!!
It's shot, the whole front half of the floor is gone. I've got some other scrap metal hanging around. One of these days, likely later than sooner, it's all going to the scrapyard. I'm gonna have to either cover it, or haul it out soon really, it's getting loaded with leaves, and we all know leaves turn to dirt, and pretty soon, you've got baby maple trees.

Somehow, I missed the first part of your reply, certainly wasn't ignoring you.
I had Seamus over to a trainer yesterday, and she commented on well behaved he is. Worked about 20 minutes with him, and already an improvement. She came right out and told me he may never get out of chasing, the breed thing, but showed me a shock collar that's worth a try. It'll be here Tuesday, and hopefully Wednesday we'll be back to the kennel.
I really wish you luck with those pups, they're very special breeds, I just feel in my case this guy is going to be with me for a long time, regardless of what I have to do. He might wind up using that collar forever when we go in the woods.
A trainer, a good one, can really show you stuff that I've never picked up in books, on line etc. Of course, being one on one like we are helps too. Damn the cost,he's worth it.

Thanks man, I really just need to take time to work with them is primarily what it is. Sadie is already my expensive one, even though she was free. Her shots cost me more, she had intestinal parasites that the vet didn't kill with their dewormer somehow (which they then tried to charge me some ridiculous amount for a stronger one, I told them I would get something from Petco and that they wouldn't see me again. They told me they checked her out, but really they only checked for injuries), then I got her spayed which was like $300, she eats all of her bedding which adds up. If I can avoid paying a trainer that would be awesome. Lol. I'll try a trainer if the collar doesn't work for her though.

One thing about these dogs, they need something to do. I always keep a squeaky toy that can't be torn up around. Those harder rubber ones work great, also even just a piece of knotted rope out in a fenced in area works great. They'll entertain themselves, especially with the rope. They'll toss it around, and with two of those guys, they'd likely be playing tug of war with it. Might be good to have two ropes.
I took him into the local hardware the other day to get a new toy. He picked his own. It was a squeaker, with basically firehouse fabric around the squeaky thing. Didn't get 5 miles and the squeaker was gone, and within 10 minutes at home, he had a hole in it and the squeaker rolling across the floor.LOL
Seamus will take off after a squirrel, or a bird, or cat. If they don't run, he'll just watch them. Being hunting season, the deer don't come into the yard during daylight, but I'm sure he'd go after them too. It's bred into them to do what he does, it's just trying to control it, it can be done, but some of them have the drive more than others. Both my previous ones, would sit and watch the deer, not even growling or barking, this guy will get there, he's certainly smart enough.
You've spent some bucks for sure, but you haven't given up. Many kudos to you for that. BC's and Heelers are fantastic dogs, they're aren't in the top 10 for intelligence for no reason. They just have to be channeled to learn what you want from them. A lot of praise when they do, sometimes seem to work better than a treat. Make a big deal out of it when they obey, and chances are, he'll get the idea pretty fast.
Wish you luck, DON'T give up.

Yup, sounds like the breed. Mine chase possums, squirrels, cats, birds, bugs, if it moves it gets chased. They've even killed a snake before. I'd like to take them around some livestock and see what they do. Occasionally I'll run around the house and let them chase me, but there's no biting allowed. Lol. For some reason, neither of them like male dogs though. Kylie eventually warms up, Sadie hasn't ever come around to one. Not sure what it is, but they make her go full on attack mode. Hair raised, barking, growling, drooling, and ready to fight. It's wild to see. I take them for walks in public so they're around people, the other day we passed a dog that was off leash (dumb owners) and Sadie was losing it. I started on sound with her collar, no reaction, vibrate for several levels with no reaction, then switched to shock and got almost maxed out on power with no reaction. At that point I just drug her past the dog, it was wild. The collars are pretty strong, my brother wanted to see how much they hurt so he held one and pushed the button at level 15 (out of 100) and his whole arm tensed up. Lol. So it's not even that the collar is weak, she was just too focused on the "threat". I think I just need to get her to properly differentiate between real and perceived threats.

Good looking pooch, and truck also. Get the new tires yet?
