I had a 69 Chevelle SS in High School, it was originally a 396 car. I bought if from the guy up the street who blew up the original motor. A neighbor two doors the other way was a racer. He helped me build a 327 for the car, it had an M-22 transmission with a 4:11 gear. Sure was fun car, and I miss it. I lost my license two days after my 17th birthday, the second time I was caught drag racing. I won way more than I lost. Judge told me and my parents that I could get my licence back after 6 months, under two conditions. 1. I brought him a Bill of Sale for the Car. 2. I brought him registration for a 4 cylinder car I would be driving.

I sure wish I had that car today.

Cool story................Are you still driving that 4 cylinder? This is an original 396 car with the numbers matching 396, only way a 68 SS came was 396 as noted on the SS badges front and rear. I think a lot have had that I wish I still had that car or truck moment, I know I have!

I joined the Navy at 18, as soon as I moved out of state I got another V-8, a 64 Sedan-DeVille with a 429 and 4 speed auto. Very cool old land yacht. Traded it two years later for a Trans-Am. Then went to Corvette's. I have always since I was 24 had at least one Corvette, some time up to three. Down to one now my 14 Stingray 3LT, Z51 with a 7 speed manual. Last summer I sold the one I had for 32 years, an 80 that I built three times. When I sold it it had a ZZ4 high out put, an Art Carr Built 200-R4 with a custom stall converter for the tire size, and rear gear. Changed the rear gear to a 3.73. Car would get 20 mpg on the hwy but run a 12.68 quarter on street tires. It just sat to much after I go the 14 Stingray.

Ok, I have 300 miles on the new Struts and Shocks with factory 20 inch wheels/tires. The overall feel of the Truck is a vast improvement from stock, the rear 5160's feels more planted and absorbs bumps to keep the tires in contact with the pavement instead of that unsettled feel. The front 6112's feel amazing the ride is still smooth as silk on the highway, cornering is like night and day, I don't have any body roll feel in the front or rear for that matter. Steering has a feel like your riding on rails as much as a heavy truck can, and braking feels much better although I can't describe exactly but the whole truck brakes together instead of front then rear trying to catch up.

I felt the same way once i got my fox 2.0s. I think yours are a little better than mine though. The upgraded suspension is probably the best mod i could do for the truck performance wise so far.

Updated installation photos of the 6112 Struts and 5160 Shocks from Saturday April 14th in my garage by yours truly since I couldn't find a local shop to do the dirty work. I set a day aside to get this done and In the end It was much more satisfying completing this install myself than I thought it would be.
I bought new upper L&R front strut mounts Part Number FM1969 with new isolators from O'Reilly for $35ea in anticipation of building up the Bilstein Strut and Springs so I could have them ready to install as an assembly to save time on Saturday. The scary part was 2 fold, 1.) Ripping the front end down to parade rest on a 2018 F150 with 5k miles and 2.) Compressing those new springs enough to install the Struts.
