Soooooooo I found out why mechanics tell you not to rebuild the top and not the bottom.... Stupid thing developed a knock at about 3000 rpm..spent that last week pulling the engine out and tearing it apart... Guess its a full rebuild now

Organized mess

He said I dont need any pistons he will clean them up and but i will install new rings.. Anyone looking to do this should expect to be out at LEAST $3000 when done If you are doing the work yourself. But that is timing chain, solenoids, phasers and oil pump included

Ok.. Im calling BULL****!! I paid 40 for a valve cover gasket set, 58 for a tining cover gasket, 95 for an intake set from autozone...Fast forward to rebuilding the whole engine and the WHOLE SET cost 150.. Head gaskets included.. Knowing is power

Exact same parts...... Arrrrgh

Its hard to believe this truck was still running... Some of the rings were stuck with carbon
I started to clean the tops of the pistons but then my analism kicked in
