I really wanted to do the ACC & heated steering wheel additions, but that's going on the back burner for a little longer now... Oh well, gives me something else to look forward to I guess.
Having both, SYNC 3 in my truck and SYNC 2 in my 2016 Explorer, I prefer the SYNC 3 by far. Much smoother and seamless. Nice upgrade! I would like to have the ability for custom backgrounds, but thats a small trade off between the 2.

I think I'm going to like it better, the ability to change the backgrounds was the biggest thing I liked on the 2 - but I only changed it once, so I probably wont lose sleep over that either lol.
3 does seem a lot more responsive like you said, & I really like have the Nav on the home screen so I can keep an eye on the posted speed limits. Already found one street downtown at the fire & police department headquarters that doesn't have signs so I've always drove 35... the Nav display tells me that the limit is actually 25 on that street
First thing I did was transferred my screen protector form the 2 to the 3, didn't want to take any chances
I PMed @TexasFording, he supplied the APIM, GPS antenna, & Carplay USB hub w/wiring connector. He also programmed it to my trucks VIN#
You can also check with @lucas8888, he normally has some for sale. Both are great guys to deal with
I included a screen protector in your sync 3 as well. Its really good since its thin and doesnt look like there's one but its great at blocking glare and finger prints
