When I saw you were going up to 37" tires, the first thing I was saying to myself was, wow, he's gonna have to re-gear.. that's HUGE money (when you really look at it).
I weighed the same thing, when doing my truck build. I stuck with the BDS 4" lift, instead of the 6" BDS lift, for that very reason. It gets expensive, FAST, lol. I've dumped over $14,000 into my truck, and I always find something else I want, lol. I'm really curious, how your re-gearing turns out. I couldn't find a place to do it, for under $3,000. I wish you well, in your build, and I'm especially happy to hear, that no one was hurt in your accident.
Look forward to hearing more info. Take care! Truck looks great!!!

I sent it to a specific shop knowing they were pretty backed up.. I'm sad that I've been without it for so long but ultimately I want to keep my truck for a long time and I would rather have it fixed correctly instead of fixed quickly. I put a lot of miles on it so in a way it's a good thing to go without it for a bit and put the miles on something else instead.

I actually talked to Stage3 regarding their 2012 FX4 Ecoboost which was the test truck for the lift I ordered. they said that the truck is 3.73 geared (as is mine) and when they went to 37s they actually never re-geared and found it to be okay for daily driving as well as 4-wheeling.

with that said, I will likely still do it to maintain optimal performance. I was quoted $2000 by 4 Wheel Parts with a 3 year warranty on parts and labor. my biggest concern was that it's a difficult job to do correctly and mistakes can definitely be made so the warranty offered makes me feel much more comfortable with going ahead with it.

That's a great price! Looking forward to seeing pics of your truck with the lift, and bigger tires. Good luck!

thanks! I'm excited as well. I actually spent some time planning things out this morning and I'm hoping I can realistically have everything done (lift, wheels, tires, regear, vinyl wrap, and maybe even bumpers) by October. so we'll see how well I can stick to that and how many times I can change my mind before then haha.

well right as I finished typing my up last update I heard some metal clanging outside, and it was the UPS guy fumbling with my AALs that had broken through the edges of the box. the other box actually contained the front coil spacers.

I have to go drop off my deposit for my CDL course ( ) in an hour but I think once I get back I'm going to head to the garage with a couple beers and do a thorough inventory of everything.

tomorrow I'm taking some Lexus wheels to get powdercoated so as long as everything looks good I'll probably bring along the crossmembers. after some consideration, I may end up coating just those pieces. I found some pictures of PC'd spindles and didn't really care for the look. especially with my red coils, I think I may have too much going on.

Should be pretty cool when it's all done. If I ever put a lift on mine I'd for sure get it powder coated as well.

thank you, I'm really excited but still can't make a decision on wheels. I actually just read through your build the other day, I really like all of the small and custom touches you've put into your truck. stuff like that is definitely what makes a build stand out.

what part of Iowa are you in? that's where I'm originally from.
