Well, I returned the truck back to stock and removed the CTS2 and am sending it back. I've done about 100 miles with it with no issues, but noticed a couple things. The MPG is way off, the MPH is about 3 MPH off, the fuel level gauge is inconsistent, etc. Then I got in the truck to leave work today and when I started the truck the CTS2 didn't even come on. Turned the truck back off, waited a couple of minutes and then turned the ignition on. Screen came on, so I started the truck, put it in drive and the CEL comes on and is flashing non-stop. I look at the CTS2 and it is showing a custom background of the Michigan Wolverines (OH, HELL NO!) and it is showing a VIN number that wasn't mine. Shut the truck back down. I had a PCM Memory Failure DTC and a Misfire DTC. After everything I just went through with the misfires, I got a little worried, especially with it thinking it was a different vehicle. I immediately took the tune off the truck and returned it to stock and unplugged the CTS2. Started the truck back up and the CEL was clear. Drove home and it never came back on. As soon as I got in the driveway I went right into the garage, got a 10MM socket, a pair of scissors and ripped the CTS2 out.

VERY disappointed to say the least. However, the truck is driving normally now. I guess the plus side is now I have an extra $600+ back in the truck budget to spend Now I just have to decide what to use it on because I want:

Also if you don't get ^^ that ^^, you need to go get on Netflix and watch Top Gear ASAP. The British version, not the dumb American version.

Sucks to hear about that gauge, was looking at one of those myself early on. Not so much for a tune for me, but do like all the view options. And i'm sure there is something you will run into here that will cost more than $600 so you will need that in the bank.

In life you win some and you lose some, but you keep moving forward. I just consider myself thankful that I have the job that I do, which allows me to mess around with the truck. And the fact that the Mrs. doesn't complain... too much. I'm contemplating doing Bilstein 5100's on the front or doing an exhaust instead now. Just have to stop at the Firestone Complete Auto Car down the road from my house and see how much the 5100's will cost. So many options and I am indecisive!

Default #14 Banks Monster Exhaust

Banks Monster Exhaust - 48762 Banks Monster Exhaust - 48762

After the fail with the CST2, I decided to go after an exhaust. I'm kind of picky when it comes to exhausts as I do not like rear bumper exit duals. My old F-350 7.3L diesel (I miss that truck) had a Banks dual Monster Exhaust on it which I really liked, so I jumped on the Banks website to find a part number for the 18's. Banks has always been bad about keeping their parts by vehicle up to date and they claimed they didn't have anything that fit a 2018. So I did some research and took some measurements and after a lot more research, I decided to buy a Monster Exhaust for a 2015 and see how it worked. Fit like a glove. No modifications needed and simple to install. I even managed to do it without jacking the truck up.

The exhaust is a little louder than I was expecting for a single side exit and honestly if it weren't for the 10 speed, I think my wife would be complaining about it being too loud. Love the tone it puts out, very little drone, and I've always liked the way the "oblong" exhaust tip looks.

We had the flashing on our chimney ripped off the roof and quite a bit of water got into the basement because of that so I've been dealing with that now.

All in all, not a good week.
You near the Southland Mall tornado touchdown, or the one that hit more to the south? I grew up in Taylor.

I dig what you’re doing.. I have an 18 XLT Screw 2.7 SE with decal delete being built in 2 weeks! Similar MSRP but a few different options... I went with

If I can pull my Sticker, I’ll share it.

Im planning a few simple touches, but so far you’ve done them all.. mudflaps, wheel well liner, antenna. I have my eye out for other touches.

So far, so slick!

this is the auto-gen screen cap from the Build It Own website.

Tick, tick, tick.. waiting sucks.

The waiting is definitely the hardest part. I live in Allen Park, but very close to the Taylor border. We just moved down here 2 months ago from Northville to be closer to my wife's family and to my work. She grew up in Woodhaven and I do carpentry on the side and do a lot of work in the Brownstown, Woodhaven, South Rockwood areas.

Guessing from your name you're also a Spartans fan? I'm alumni and worked for MSU PD for several years before moving out this way.

Go Green...

Once I get my truck, I already have my first “mod” ready to go... Block S hitch plug, lol.

i love some of the lighting mods others are implementing, makes me daydream of green and white ground effects, maybe under the driver seats too.. lol.

Also makes me wish I had projector headlamps, I’d get green demon eyes on a switch.

Well, not much progress has been done. I've been busy on my side carpentry jobs. Only thing I have really done is pulled the front air dam off and plugged the holes with a bunch of push in retainer pins. Haven't taken the time to trim the remaining plastic mounting tabs off the bottom yet, but I do think it looks a lot better without the front air dam. On a good note however, all my Diode Dynamic LED lights finally shipped and are supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I can't wait to get them installed because the stock headlights are abysmal!

I've received a few requests for a sound clip of the Banks Monster Exhaust, so here's a cold start video. I'll work on a driving video down the road.

Default #15 Diode Dynamics LED Lighting

Got my package from Diode Dynamics. I ordered the Low Beam, High Beam, fog lights, and Switchback LEDs. I started with the Low beams and worked my way down. All went smooth until the fog lights. They are not even close to fitting. Confirmed part numbers, but no dice. It looks like they molded the black plastic housing backwards I'll have to email them tomorrow. I haven't had a chance to drive the truck at night yet, but the truck already looks so much better.

Edit: Removed the Diode Dynamics SLF Fog lights. After burning through 3 sets in about 6 months I threw in the towel. See Mod #24 for the replacements.

DD SLF on the left with the bulb facing me. Sotck bulb on right with bulb facing away from me. It appears the tabs line up correctly when the bulb is rotated 180 degrees.
