DaveCN5's '18 157" Super Crew Magnetic Special Edition Build

https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...fa2f99f1df.jpg

So this is going to be a bit of a long build, but I want to try and keep this thread organized. So let's start here. This is the Window Sticker developed by COTUS to show the included options without me having to list them all.

https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...fc8c1a0521.jpg

I don't know how many times I have been going through a build thread only to wonder "where did I see that?" and then I am scrolling through pages and pages in an attempt to find it. Then you find it and have no link provided and have to research what it is, etc. I'm hoping my new layout of this build thread will help people looking for information and pictures of specific parts or ideas. Think of this first post as a Title Page of sorts.

Click on the Number to be taken to that post. Click on the blue "Link" to be taken to where I purchased it from. Enjoy!

Any more pics of the truck? What's in all thos unmarked boxes? Lol... I probably don't need any more ideas, it will.most likely cost me money.

Davecn5 07-24-2018 09:48 AM

I don't have any more downloaded from my phone at the moment and I am currently confined to bed with the flu :help:

There's stuff in those boxes  That pile has got even bigger too. I don't care how much Cold/Flu medicine I have to take, but I want to get working on the truck tomorrow.

I Love the truck as is but can't wait to see your improvements.

Get some rest and get better.

Davecn5 07-25-2018 06:56 AM

Thanks. I'm feeling way better this morning and am back at work. Can't lie though, I sat in the kitchen this morning contimplating if I should call in today too just so I can work on the truck  I figured I need to make money in order to spend money, so here I am.

Hopefully the weather cooperates. It's been a very hot and humid summer so far and it's gross. Fingers crossed that I will be able to make some good progress tonight and get some pictures posted.

Well it was a hot and humid 95 degrees today. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to get this hot in Michigan, but I managed to get some of the little mods put on today. Either way, here are a few photos of it still stock.

I'm glad I ended up going with the step. It will definitely come in handy and I will gladly let people call me an old man for getting it. Worth every penny in my eyes.

#2 Husky X-Act Contour Liners

1st thing on the to-do list was swapping out the crappy floor mats for liners. I went back and forth quite a bit between Weather Techs and Husky X-Act Contours. I have used Weather Techs in every vehicle I have owned, but one thing that always bugged me was the fact that the edges would curl. After realizing that the Husky's are a little more flexible I decided to give them a shot. They offer the rears in both Full and Partial coverage. Since I haul my 100 pound German Shepherd (who sheds like crazy) quite a bit, I decided to spend the extra money on the full coverage ones.

Rear Full Coverage

I think they need to warm up a little bit and "settle down" from being shipped. I do like the fact that they definitely slip around a lot less than the Weather Techs did. The Rear Full Coverage ones are exactly what they sound like. Full coverage. It was actually a little hard to get it into position just right, but I like them. And so does my Supervisor, Cash!

Husky built, German Shepherd approved

#3 AntennaMastsRus 13" All Terrain Antenna

So back when we bought our house, one of the things we loved is the fact that it has a 2 & 1/2 car garage out back, but it also has a carport over the driveway close to the front door. It's great for washing cars, detailing etc in the shade. Before we even put the offer in I took measurements to make sure I could fit a truck under the carport, which I can. Well the first time I brought the truck home, without thinking, I pulled in and WHACK! Stupid antenna smacked the carport. I found this on Amazon after reading tons of reviews and it has good reviews compared to most of the stubby style antennas. However, this company makes them in all sorts of sizes, finishes, and colors. Pretty neat. For $16.99, definitely worth a shot.

I did take a short drive after putting it on. So far no loss of reception compared to the stock antenna, however, I do live very close to Detroit. Something I'm going to be checking on closely tomorrow is it's strength. It's made of a softer rubber and I have a sneaking suspicion that once I get up to highway speed, this thing is going to be flapping in the wind. If that's the case I just may end up cutting down the stock antenna. I'll update on that tomorrow.

Update: Did about 80 mph on the highway. It wobbles a little bit, but it actually stands up more in the wind than I thought it would. So I'm pretty happy with it right now.

#4 Ford Splash Guards

FYI the fronts are WAY faster to install than the backs. I ended up going with the rear ones that have the Ford Logo on them and glad that I did. I think they look sharp and will do a good job of protecting the truck. These did come in a set of Front & Rear, but they do only fit trucks that have the lip or molding on them.

#5 Ford Wheel Well Liners

Unfortunately it started to get dark as well as start to rain when I put these on. I kept debating on the Ford OEM ones or the Husky ones for quite a while. I heard a lot of people saying that there are some Chinese knock offs of the Husky floating around on sites like Amazon etc, but claiming to be Huskys and then are a PITA to install. Some people don't like to be able to see the frame, but I actually don't mind it, so I chose the Ford OEM liners. By the way, the instructions are like the instructions you get from IKEA :icon_rolleyes:

And that is as far as I got today, but it's progress. Hopefully I'll tear into some of the big boxes this weekend.
