Default **1989 F250 HD Build**

Just picked up a 1989 F250 HD 4x4 the other day. It has a 5.8L V8 with a Dana 50TTB front axle and the rear is a 10.25 sterling with 4.10s and a LS. Believe it or not the truck only has 24,000 miles, but was used as a plow truck at a hospital since it rolled off the assembly line. Truck has some heavy rust especially on the bed floor, but the frame still has a good amount of steel left, and no holes/cracks I'm aware of. Not sure which direction I'm headed in for this build, but any suggestions are appreciated. Will get up some more pictures when the rain lets up.

Got some work done on the 89 today since the weather was nice. Started cleaning the loose rust off of the frame and discovered a section on the passengers side of the truck with a few holes that are through the frame. Also removed the exhaust since it was practically hanging off. Now I have a problem with the 351 that I need to track down. When it's at idle the engine runs perfect doesn't skip a beat and the same goes to when I give it gas except occasionally at certain RPMs it has almost I don't want to say a knock as it's more like a ping ping ping. Not sure what it is, but I am going to dump the fuel and replace the fuel filter later this week as both are rather old. Any input on this problem would be great.

Well fixed the knocking issue today. Retarded the timing a few degrees and the knock disappeared so making some progress. Valve covers seem to be leaking some oil so going to have to tear into the top of the engine to replace the gaskets and also need to replace the exhaust manifolds as well.

25 years of plowing takes a Ford to accomplish that! It's definitely showing it's age though

Yesterday and today starting pulling the Intake Manifold off so I can replace the valve cover gaskets, and do the exhaust manifolds while I have everything off. Almost have the Intake Manifold removed completely got a little stuck on the torx screw Ford decided to use......but luckily got it removed after almost completely stripping it. Some of the things they do make me question why I like Fords sometimes however I guess all brands have their stupid issues.

Continued ripping down the top of the engine so I can get to the valve covers and start taking off the splash shields to get a good view of the exhaust manifolds
