Default Brenden's f150 build thread

Hi all,

I figured I'd start a build thread for my truck!

To start off, January of this year I got a 2020 f150 platinum with a 3.5L EcoBoost and a 6.5' box in Agate Black at only 25,000km (15,500 miles). When I got it the truck had the following optional add ons:
  • 2" 1.5" leveling kit
  • Backflip Tonneau cover
  • Factory spray in bed liner
  • Factory rubber floormats
  • FX4 Off-road package
  • Trailer Tow package
  • Ford rubber floormats
  • Moonroof
  • Tech Package - 360 cameras
I'll do each set of upgrades as their own post. To start off here are a few photos from the dealership:

The leather looks a whole lot better in person than it does in this photo!
Here's a couple photos taken a few days later before any upgrades:

Drove it 1000km (~600mi) to visit my parents in Alberta, it got a bit dirty along the way.

I was able to drive on Ghost Reservoir in January. The ice was ~4' thick.

I'll also attach my current modlist/ wishlist to this post:

Current mod list as of August 2022:

Lighting:
Performance:
Wheels and Tires:
Suspension:
Utility:
Cosmetic:

Wishlist:

Lighting:
Performance:After warranty runs out:
  • High Pressure Fuel Pump (Xtreme Di XDi60)
  • Injectors (indeterminate)
  • Low Pressure Fuel Pump (Deatschwerks DW400)
  • Let me know if there's other things I should consider/ better products than the ones listed!
All performance mods will eventually be done, some specific items may change

Wheels and Tires:

Suspension:and/or
Utility:
Audio:
  • Sound Deadening (full cab: Dynamat or SoundSkin)
  • Undetermined Audio System Upgrade (budget $4000)
I'd like to get a new audio setup, but that's probably last on the list as the current setup is 'good enough'

Default First upgrade: February 2022

The first upgrade I did to the truck was transplanting the Alpharex Nova headlights & Morimoto xb fog lights from my previous truck.

Previous truck:

Previous truck in all its glory: 2019 f150 XLT, 3.5L EcoBoost, 6.5' box in Ruby Red. All aftermarket parts aside from Amazon raptor grille/ black grille lights have been transplanted to new truck and will be discussed later... I do miss that colour!

New truck with headlights/ fog lights installed early February:
It was a bit cold installing the headlights/ fog lights (-15°c/5°f) but I couldn't wait any longer to put them on!

Default Tunes!

My next upgrade isn't really seen as much as it is felt. I got a BDX tuner with 5* tunes, it really changed the drive and the truck shifts alot nicer now!

Well worth the money, it improves the ride significantly without the extra bolt ons

Default ForScan!

In March I did a few changes through ForScan, namely:
  • Global windows
  • Doo-doo-doo delete
  • Heated/ ventilated seats on display
  • Open messages on the go
  • Bambi mode
  • Lincoln style mirrors (since removed as I didn't love it)
  • 2x click for alarm
  • Seatbelt alarm disabled (still use seatbelt though)
  • Lincoln style display (shown in next photo)

And possibly others that I'm forgetting

Stuff blurred out for privacy

Default Wheels and tires!

The next big upgrade I did was transplanting the wheels and tires from my old truck.

Setup:
Goodyear Wrangler duratrac 35x12.5-r20
Fuel blitz gloss black 20x10 -18

Here's a few photos to show the size difference/ poke:

Due to the size difference it also took a fair bit of trimming to get the front tires in without any rub. It now turns 100% going forward without rubbing in both directions & about 90% in reverse (no rubbing at all after new suspension was added + a bit more trimming to clean up).

Here's a couple photos of the complete job:

I also did a few smaller changes that are noticable in these photos, namely:
  • Air dam trimming, it looks way better and I didn't notice a hit in fuel economy after it was done (a few weeks prior to tires)
  • CravenSpeed stubby antenna
  • Recon black 3rd brake light
  • 20% tint across the board
  • Morimoto xb mirror lights (more on that in the next post)

Default Oops!

So, while trying to install the Morimoto xb mirror lights I had a slight mishap...

I attempted to remove the mirror exactly as was shown in multiple YouTube videos but for some reason it didn't quite work out for me... Installing those $80cad mirror lights ended up costing an extra $420cad for the new glass!

That brings it to now! I've got new suspension sitting at my brother's house currently and I'll be installing that within the next week or two.

This thread will not progress super fast as I'm not made of money, but I'll get things as I can afford them.

If you don't like a dirty truck I'd avoid this thread, the roads where I live don't allow for vehicles to stay clean for more than a few minutes lol.

So, what happened to the 2019?

Do the 13th gen mirrors come out the same way the 12th gen mirrors do?

Very nice truck, it was nice that you had a bunch of carry over parts from the ruby red!

The '19 was still in good shape when I traded it in, I just couldn't pass up upgrading to a truck with everything I wanted for the deal I got!

The 13th gen mirrors are supposed to just pop out, they're just held in by some clips. Apparently though the clips held stronger than the mirror could handle and it shattered under the force trying to pop it out, even when I used even/steady force across the back and pulled out and up like multiple video said to do!
