Default Athena

My build has been challenging as getting real data on some modifications has been hard to get. Athena, the truck, was named after the first song (Athena by The Who) played on the radio when I picked it up. My build is a Ford F150 Lariat with a 502A Package, as leather and V8 was all I wanted, in Magma Red. She also has the FX4 package with 3.73 Electronic Diff.

Work done to date;
  • front windows were tinted to match the back at 20%.
  • FX4 Stickers removed from the back.
  • 305/50R20 General Grabber ATx installed on factory rims.

Scheduled Items:
  • Remove Rear Block to lower rear end.
  • Install 3D MaxPider Floor Liner
  • Install Bak Industries X2 Bed Cover
  • Bedrug Liner
  • Dewalt Wheel-Well Liner / Guards
  • Custom made Name Badges for Fenders

Ordered at Purchase:
  • Dealer install Roush Supercharger
  • Dealer install Roush Exhaust
I have logged Fuel usage via the Lie-O-Meter and will post soon.

Also, I welcome all comments as I don't know everthing ...just ask my wife she'll confirm this fact.

Just an update:

So far the 3D Mats have been installed which have a great feel in comparison to the Weathertech or Husky mats.

The Dewalt Wheel Liners were installed and are the same as other brands.

The Roush Supercharger and Exhaust are installed. The exhaust's loud at cold start, but no complaints from the neighbours ...yet. The power is outstanding. When the snow clears up I will get an update on the L/100Km.

The custom badging is not in from emblemart.com yet so I just shaved two I picked online. Big thanks to go-on3 for the idea!

Now for the part that did not go as planned; My Ford dealer/service centre refused to remove the rear blocks as "...by just removing the spacers, it could cause driveline issues including a shudder during acceleration and could be harsh on shocks and other components". So rather than argue my points I decided to order the M-3000-HA blocks which they agreed to install. (https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-3000-HA) Anyone had an issue with pulling the block alone (no shims)?

Default Updated Litres per 100KM...

OK, so I waited for similar weather to run another test with the Roush SC.

Same highway at 110km set on cruise control:

12.7 L. per 100KM (18.5 mpg) with SC

10.7 L. per 100KM (22 MPG) Stock 5.0 V8

....and yes it's worth it!

Updated photo with Ford Performace M-3000-H4 rear lowering kit.

Ford Performance M-3000-H4

Still trying to convince myself it was worth lowering the rear end 1 1/4"...

That's a dealer for ya, just tryin to CYA. So silly that they would say that since the 2WD trucks run without the rear blocks from the factory. Do any search on this forum and you'll find hundreds of threads for people (including myself) that removed the rear blocks to get a leveled look (reverse level). It takes maybe 30 minutes in your driveway. I had a 2015 F150 and ended up going backwards into a 2014. I removed the blocks from BOTH trucks without issue. I'm going on 80K miles without blocks currently and haven't had any issues with "shudder" or whatever other BS your dealer told you. Ugh, I get so frustrated with how little Ford dealers seem to know about their own products.

Side story... I was at a dealer getting an oil change a while ago and was looking around the showroom floor while I waited. I overheard someone ask the sales guy if the rear seat folded forward on the F150 he was looking at and the sales guy said "no they don't" without any sort of hesitation. I felt the need to intervene and told the guy that they DID in fact fold forward and even showed him how to do it and that you can either make or buy a little kit to add a strap release. The sales guy looked at me like I was some sort of know-it-all A-hole. I looked back at him and said "ya know, for a sales guy, you don't know your product that well" and walked away (mic drop). I don't care if it was a d!ck move or not. I'm sick of Ford dealers not knowing their stuff.

Anyhooo... love the truck!

Fully agree with you that the dealer was CYA. Sales reps. need to do more homework on their products.

If it wasn’t for the supercharger install / warranty issue, where in need the
dealer on my side, I would have called BS and pulled the blocks myself.
