First thing I do when I walk in to look at a vehicle is ask for the invoice price. Then we go from there. If they don't want to give it to me, I walk out. If they give it to me, then I ask what they need to make off the vehicle. That's how I got my current truck. You'll blow through a few dealers doing that until you find the dealer that will play ball.

There's a secret to playing the game.

That's exactly what I did. They hesitated at first then showed it to me. Then they paused and said we will sell it to you at invoice and also throw in rebates. That was about 45 min car deal. I was pretty happy. Walked out paying $45500 on a $53000 truck.

I bought my dads truck for him in August, and it was so painful. I ended up paying over Internet price because he wasn't trading anything in. But, 41500 on a 53k fx4 Eco wasn't bad in the first place. But ford isn't on my radar so not going back to that dealer lol

That's the only way to do it. Actually got a dealer to go under invoice using that same method (truck had been sitting on their lot for months) but unfortunately the truck sold a few days before I could make it back there... Still got a good deal, just not under invoice...

There's a supercharged Hennessy one driving around here. Thing looked like a sleeper except for the badges. Some 50 something year old woman was driving it.

I tried that method with them. They wouldn't play ball on that so I pulled out a bunch of print outs I had of similar trucks across the US, different estimated values of the truck(blue book, black book, nada, etc) and the guy stood by his belief that his price was just. I stood up, shook his hand, told him to call me if they change their mind, and walked out. Unfortunately I think some poor guy ended up paying way too much for it because it has apparently sold since then.
