Andrewdod's 2015 XLT Sport Build Thread

Alright guys, I picked up this 2015 XLT 5.0 4x4 Sport package yesterday after my 2013 STX was totaled out by the insurance company. I'm super excited about this truck! I've already got about 350 dollars in mods/parts coming for this one that should be showing up in the next few days. So here is a quick breakdown of my plans for this one. These will for sure change, but these are my immediate plans for this build.

Interior:
Husky Floor liners
Auovo Anti dust mats (cup holders, console, glovebox, door trim panels, etc.)
Katzkin Leather interior
sync 3

Exterior:
6 inch ProComp suspension lift.
35x11.5R20 Nitto Terra grapplers (Off the 2013)
20inch +1 offset Fuel Triton's (off the 2013)
Tint the front windows to match the rears with a 5% brow on the windshield (I have an appointment for this tomorrow.)
Black Anzo Outline projector headlights
Husky Rear Wheel Well Liners
6 inch .50 Cal Stubby antenna (off the 2013)
Putco 98651 Window trim painted Tuxedo Black
Fox 2.0 Coilovers and Rear Shocks
Morimoto XB fog lights
Full LED exterior light swap
AVS Seamless Ventshade Visors
paint match the grille and bumper trim. (I love the xlt sport grille and have no desire to swap it like others have)
Performance:

Some kind of dual side exit exhaust. (not sure yet I didn't think my magna flow on my last truck was loud enough.)
K&N Cold Air intake
SCT Tuner. (who tunes it is up in the air, will probably be the flavor of the month at the time.)

House Keeping:

Going to have the hood repainted not happy with how the hood looks right now. There are paint runs, and dirt nibs all over it. There is no evidence of a collision, or any other paint work on the truck. However my assumption is the hood probably had some very bad scratches in it and the PO took it to a shade tree shop for paint work before he turned in his lease. The painters at my work have already looked at it and they are down to fix it.

Spray in bedliner, the truck currently has no sort of bedliner in it and the bed has scratches all over.

PDR the truck has 2 or 3 dings that I want to have taken out. I will do this once the truck doesn't go into Philadelphia everyday because I'm sure it will get a few more before I'm done there.

Remove the hideous front valance (I've already done this, In my opinion a very dumb design by ford. It would scrape a speed bump it hangs so low.)

2 new rear door trims. Don't know how i missed these when i bought it... the right side is really scratched up, and the left has a small hole in the speaker grate.

Here's a few pics of the new ride!

Today pulled off all the dealer lettering and free advertisement and removed the loser valance

Filled the holes left from the valence with these

Thanks man. Going to take me some time to get the lift kit. my guy quoted me 3k for the lift and install. I knew I was going to have to save, but not that much. Hopefully I have it lifted by the end of the year. My main focus right now is getting the hood painted. Which will only cost 2 or 300 to do. They knocked way more off the deal than that to get me to live with it so i guess i did okay. The issue is we are super busy right now at the shop and even though i'm a paying customer just like anyone else it's such a small job that i'm going to have to wait until we're slow again. It just annoys the hell out of me to look at it.

Yea, the hood would drive me crazy too. Hopefully, your shop can squeeze you in somewhere and get it done pretty soon.

$3K for the lift sounds crazy, but then again there's a lot of work involved. Are you doing upgraded shocks or struts with it?

For the exhaust, are you looking for obnoxious or just slightly wild? I went with a Cherrybomb Glasspack swap in place of the muffler (12" length) and left the resonator. It's not as loud as I want so I'm thinking I'm going to install an electronic cutout before the resonator, and do an axle dump with no mufflers or anything on it. That way when I'm coming home or leaving at late/early hours I'm not pissing my neighbors off as bad. Lol

Howdy neighbor! This may be a silly question but as strict as Texas inspections have been, would this create any issues you think? I had a Roush exhaust on my 2014 without the resonator and it was very loud! I love this idea but don't want any issues when getting inspected

Congrats on the new truck! I have heard of several paint issues from ford out of the factory. My guess is painting aluminium is a bit different than steel.

So crazy. Hoping to get that taken care of next week. It really depends on how busy the shop is.

I think it’s fair to be honest. It’s a lot of work 1900 for the lift 1000 for install and 100 for alignment isn’t bad. Not going to get the upgraded coil overs to start but the truck will eventually have a pair of fox’s on it.

As as far as exhaust goes.... I want it to party when I romp on it, but be chill when I’m cruising. I thought the last set up was just a little to chill.

unfortunately this isn’t a factory defect. I can see that someone did minor bodywork on the panel, the body work is fine but whoever painted it had no idea what they were doing. The process for painting aluminum is the same as steel. No differences. It’s poor quality control by ford letting that get into the dealers.

Got the front windows tinted out yesterday. Also added a brow on the windshield. Front windows are 15% and the strip is 5%. Still deciding whether I want to make the rear windows darker.
