Default '97 F150 project

Hey there my name is Kenny and im starting a project on my 1997 F150 XLT V6. she earned the name "Loud 'N Slow" being a V6 with true dual cherry bomb glasspacks dumped.

A little history, I have had this truck since i was 16 and it was pretty much my first vehicle. I had a '93 Grand Cherokee before it but it was only about 5 months after i bought it that a drunk driver decided to hit it while it was in my driveway and totaled it, so i bought the F150 with the insurance money.

when I went to college in 2010 I bought a 1999 B2500(Ranger) so i parked the F150 outside on my buddies property for a little over two years (with the passenger window stuck down). now that I am done with college and have a stable job I've decided to bring her back to life.

I used a bottle of sta-bil and some 93 to dilute the two year old gas, put in a new battery and it fired on the first turn.

This is the day i brought it home

This was in her prime

the interior I did Also in her prime

This was Right after i pulled it out and did a quick wash. shine is from still being wet

This is the current state of the interior

found some standing water and a bit of rust

found the source of the leak, wire wheeled the rust off. Going to have to get the windshield resealed

yeah i had a minor surgery that has slowed down my process right now but should be back at it soon.

main issue now is finding a body shop that can pull the windshield and take care of some rust around it to get it to stop leaking.

i already have new dash pieces and the seats are back to looking new, and once i fix the leak i will buy the new carpet and can get the ball rolling again.

Default finally back to work on this thing!

got the windshield out (cracking it in the process of course) ditched the HFT windshield remover kit for some 100lb picture hanging wire to saw through the glue.

lots of rust to get rid of.. not too deep for the most part it seems but i will find out when I put the wire wheel to it

most of the glue i got off with a razor blade, the rest will come off with the wire wheel.

cant really see it in the picture but it is cracked. i went into it expecting to break it so no biggie. gonna need a new decal when i get the new one tho!

almost ready to paint! after a bit more sanding that is..

it was bare metal before, all the streaks are the dried Jasco prep and prime

after wire wheeling and grinding off all the rust i could i used Jasco prep and prime to help protect the bare metal before paint as well as convert and bits of rust i may have missed

after the first sanding and a bit of bondo where i had to grind off alot

close up of the bad spot (much more sanding to do)
