Default 95 XLT; Rebuilding Daddy's truck

I've been on and off of the forum for a few years, but recently I've been focusing on my Dad's truck again so I thought I would start a build thread. My Dad left me a very clean, good condition 95 XLT 4X4 with around 150,000 miles.

The starting point.

My Dad had purchased it new and had gotten a really good combination of options. 5.0L, 4R70W auto, 1356 transfer case, A\C, power windows and locks, cruise, bench seat. I've always liked single cab\short bed trucks and that color!

He had swapped in Warn manual hubs and cat back duals.

Next came a 6in Dick Cepek lift with extended radius arms, M\T 12.5 X 35 MTZ's on M\T 15 X 10 Classic II's.

And then things slowed down. Kids, job change, no money, no time, something was always more urgent. But it wasn't without some fun along the way.

Now a rusted out exhaust has restarted the process and we begin the emptying of the wallet. If you're going to replace the exhaust on an old truck there's just no reason to not get headers. At least that's the logic I told my wife!

I ordered Summitt Racing headers. I'm glad I didn't pay extra for Pace Setters.

2 1/2in true duals with Thrush 17651 mufflers.

This weekend I was able to get the ignition upgrade done.

MSD Streetfire coil, MSD HEI cap and rotor,Accel plugs and wires.

The staight boots on the Accel wires were going to touch the headers, so I exchanged them for a Universal kit from MSD. I had to build them myself but they were the right wires for the distributor anyway.
