Long story short, my old 2007 Ford F-150 XLT was totaled, at no fault of my own. So I went in search of her replacement. After a pretty lengthy and tedious search, I found my new baby. I ended up getting a 2018 Ford F-150 XL w/ STX Package 4X4 SuperCrew 2.7L EcoBoost. I decided to drop down a trim level and add the STX package b/c it seemed to have everything I wanted/needed. Only thing I miss so far is the power seats, but I’m the only one that drives her so I only have to adjust them once. I also went down from my old 6.4L 8 cylinder to a 2.7L 6 cylinder. I figured that I’d enjoy the gas savings and she would still be able to accomplish all of my towing/hauling needs.
So anyways, this is the first vehicle that I have ever purchased brand new. I never thought I would buy new actually, but the difference in price for what I wanted it didn’t make sense not to. So I have put all but 9 miles on her. At the time of writing this, she has a whopping 212. She doesn’t have a name yet… but her story has begun!
Ok enough of the diary entry… Here are some of the modifications that I am looking in to doing. Any thoughts, suggestions or words of wisdom, are welcomed and appreciated!! I plan on using this thread to document the modifications and upgrades I do.
Here are a couple of pics of my new truck:
Want To Dos:
Blind spot cameras - When a turn signal is activated, the corresponding camera video will show on screen. I have been looking at something like the iBeam system:
Raptor style LED Grill Lights – the 3 amber lights in the grill.
Leveling Kit – This will probably be the first modification that I do, I just don’t like the factory stance. Probably either Rough Country 2" or Mammoth 2.5".
Headlight Upgrade – Once I save some jingle I’d like to upgrade to HID or something brighter then the pretty dim factory lights. If not the entire headlight than at least something like OPT7 LED Headlight Bulbs.
Congrats on the new truck.
you may want to take a look at the OEM tailgate shock...buy the two parts separately, not the kit, it is cheaper that way.
Welcome to the F150 family.
First thing I would do is remove that atrocious logo from your rear window! And replace it with a TB12 logo. JK. Nice looking whip good luck with truck
