2017 XLT: Just what we need another lightning blue build thread!
With all the help I’ve received here, I figured I’d start a build thread to track my progression. This is my first fill size pickup. I used to roll a Nissan hardbody way back when. I’m NOT a Ford guy. I’m not really a brand loyal guy at all. But ford makes great trucks and the safety rating made my chick want this more than a ram. So ford it is!! I live in SoCal and flew 1k miles to Boise Idaho to get the truck. My local ford dealers couldnt find the truck I wanted, and when they did, it was at a price I wasn’t willing to pay. Not many people in SoCal want a longbed 4x4. That’s not really a big city friendly truck.
Truck is a 2017 XLT 302a in lightning blue with sport package, 4x4, max tow, 3.5 eco and of course, LOOOOWNG bed.
How she looked when I picked her up from dealer
Plan on doing a full stereo upgrade
Also plan on doing an HID projector retro. Was thinking something like this
But I’m afriad it’ll look a little too “ricey” so now I’m leaning more towards something like this

Added a 2.5” level and some Cooper discovery at3 tires in 285/75r18. Tire size works out to a 35x11.5 which fits well with no rubbing on stock rims.
Even with the level I still have about an inch of rake. I was originally planning on doing billsteins up front, but didn’t want to wait any longer and this truck may see 5K miles/yr at the most, so I didn’t see a reason to go with anything other than a level. I also plan on adding a set of billsteins to the rear. Ride wasn’t at all affected by the level. Just as soft and mushy as stock. And with the LT tires @ 40psi, I still didn’t notice much of a difference. Hope to get into Forscan today and adjust tires size. Wish me luck!

Thanks Grimm! I’ll be bugging you for some tips when it comes to baking open my lights.
I was originally thinking the exact some truck, but in silver. Soooo glad I went with the blue.
Thanks Cody!
Thanks Andrew!
I also finally ordered the rest of the parts for my headlights. Going to use morimoto mini H1 for the lows and a dummy projector for the highs. Plan on doing a switchback angel eye on each lens. Hope it looks good.

Very nice truck and I love the color. I'm very interested to see the creativity of the design of the sound system. It's going to be awesome. Post plenty of pics.
