That is a sharp looking truck. The new rims you chose are the only ones that have made me think about ditching my stock 20s. I also now have a new need for factory black housing headlights.

Haha thanks! If you're trying to save money, I highly suggest you stay off this forum. I'm over $5k in and I'm not done yet.

Hahaha yeah, I tried to detail everything as well as I could with as little as possible.

Oh I completely understand! I've had 7 Mustangs, and even more trucks. One of the main reasons my next purchase was a truck over a new GT was practicality and money saved. Uhhhh yeah, I've spent more on my truck then I ever did on any of my Mustangs haha.

Haha yeah it worked! What I had in my head and what it ended up being were two completely different things. Damn wind.

Then I bought some 150 grit sandpaper at Home Depot. I only used 1 can of primer and clear, but I'd rather have too much than not enough.
Thank you for the write up. I'm leaning more towards this method for getting rid of my chrome handles as well but I wanted to take it one step further & strip the chrome beforehand. A few questions....

How is the finish holding up ?
How exactly did you take off the tailgate handle & is there a way to take off JUST the handle ?

The finish is holding up absolutely perfectly. I was at Ford the other day (just screwing around) and looked at an oxford white sport to compare handles. In the sun, you can barely tell my handles didn't come from the factory like this. I could not be happier how they turned out.

As far as taking the tailgate handle assembly off, it's just two 10mm bolts right behind the handle. The whole black assembly comes out. I could not get the handle off the assembly though, but all that holds it in is two silver pins. I tried to push them out, but it didn't budge. Maybe I was doing something wrong? I honestly don't know.

Awesome ! Now just to confirm, all you did was scratch up the chrome handles w/ sandpaper, then begin painting process ?

I'm gonna do a test run on stripping the chrome off another part before I go forward w/ the handles. If it doesn't work out as planned, I'll be using your method

Yep! If you can't strip the chrome, I'd recommend using an adhesive promoter, then primer, just for safe measure.
