Question 300 6 cyl oil pan

Good evening,
I bought a 78 f150 several years ago and stripped it down and did a lot of work but it had to be ready to plow in Maine so some things had to wait. The other day I noticed oil dripping and found a pencil size hole through the oil pan along with several pin holes. I bought an aftermarket pan but had to return it because it did not have the dip stick in the pan. Mine is a rear sump instead of the middle and according to the distributor it was probably changed out for a later oil pan. So, I got the newer one but it doesn't want to go by the oil pump on the width (by a smidgen), but more is that the pan will not line up and the sump pickup will not allow the pan to seat. I thought that the 300's used the same block and so I am wondering if they were just a cheap import (didn't think so) because it looks really close to the same. If that is the case, does anyone know where to get a pan that actually fits correctly with the dip stick in the pan? Thank you
Red Oak
