Default 2014 FX4 SuperCab 6.2L

Picked her up in April of 2016. Brand new still sitting in the showroom. I already a 2014 FX4 Supercab with the 5.0 but wanted make some changes to do more playing in the desert. Happened to go past the dealership and saw this one in the window and had to stop and take a look. Thought it must have been used, but only 25 miles on the odometer Build date is Nov '14. Once the '15's came out with the new style they had trouble moving the older style. Original price on it was approximately $55K - was reduced to $40K, only a little more than I paid for my first truck 2 years earlier. With the mods I wanted to make to the old truck it would have put me well over what the new one would cost and it already had about 80% of the stuff I wanted to do and it was all covered under warranty. Was a no brainer really and I didnt even have to twist the wife's arm to convince her. Bonus was I sold the old truck privately for 2k less than what I paid originally for it.

I have done a little bit to her over the last couple years, was meaning to put together a build thread but never got round to it.

Will start with the stuff that was on it when I picked it up, the dealer here had several that were special ordered and imported and still covered under Ford's warranty:

Pro-Comp 6" Lift
XD metal Billet grill
KMC XD series wheels with 295/60/R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers
Viair on board compressor system with 2 Gal tank
Bakflip G2 tonneau cover

Here's list of Mods so far:
  1. Tinting
  2. Bed Rails - Lund
  3. Hood Guard - Lund
  4. In channel window deflectors - Lund (removed after 1 year)
  5. AMI Fuel door replacement
  6. AFE Exhaust tip (removed after 1 year, powder coating starting coming away)
  7. AntennaX 13" antenna replacement
  8. Smittybilt - M1 Fender Flares
  9. In bed truck tent with bed mattress (used twice, now have dogs and not enough room for them and us, so went back to using ground tent)
  10. Replaced chrome F-150/Fx4 badges with Black
  11. Replaced FX4 graphics and replaced with custom firefighter 4x4
  12. New Tires - General Grabber X3 "red letters" 35x12.5x20
  13. S&B Cold AIr Intake
  14. SCT X4 Programmer with 95 Performance tune

Planned Mods
  1. Replace Air compressor with ARB twin compressor
  2. UpDown Air 4 tire inflation/deflation system
  3. Warn 12k winch
  4. Brush Guard/Bull bar with winch mount
  5. Hitch whip flag mount
  6. Upgrade exhaust, will complete when old needs to be replaced
  7. Changes diff gears to 4.10, maybe a while as not a cheap mod by any means
  8. Thinking of changing Bed rails for a chase rack or possibly a leitner system

The old truck.... Loved everything but those damn perelli's.

Side by side old and new, two day later the old girl was sold...

Next was replacing badges, I would have thought that the FX4 package was pretty standard but apparently not. The old truck had black badging and half leather seats, the new had chrome and full leather heated/chilled seats.

out with the old

in with the new

Never really like these graphics

Much better I think

Got my SCT X4 - programmer a few days back.. I was surprised by the difference it actually made. Feels like more power, especially running through the desert, but also gained some MPG... The pics are from first day with it on. My average on a daily drive used to be about 11.. that 60 miles round trip. 6 trips in now and my daily trip average is about 12.8. Doing the math it should pay for itself in about 10 months.

My average MPG over last 1500+ miles (10.5)

First 30 miles with tune (13.2)

Finally got the S&B Cold Air Intake installed, removing the lower inlet was a real pain in the keister. Liking the noise though... a bit louder with a nice grunt when gettin on the throttle but not over the top. Cant quite compete with the locals here in their Nissan Patrols, they all seem to take them straight to the shop for new headers, they are loud as crap and they run them at full pelt pretty much everywhere.

Default The next purchase

Got the missus convinced that the new compressor and inflation/deflation system are a must have. I've got a bonus coming from work in a couple weeks so agreed to put half of it towards towards a Cyprus vacation later in the year. Anything left after the compressor and inflation system going to savings. I can live with that.

Need to make some adjustments as they only make kits for the 2nd gen raptors. I've got a 145" wheelbase, hoping a bit of extra hose will do the trick.
