Default Stage3Motorsports.com 2012 F150 3.7L Build

Here is yet another F150 project truck from Stage3Motorsports.com. This is our 2012 F150 3.7L 2wd. We may not throw everything but the kitchen sink at this one like we did on the FX4 build we are working on. But you can plan on this having an off road look with some 3.7l performance parts. We will use this truck as our test bed for our 3.7L performance packages.

Here are the stock photos:

First upgrade was a badly needed 2wd leveling kit. We decided to experiment a little here. We had some FX4 suspension laying around (our project FX4 got an Icon Stage 2 system), so we installed the FX4 front coil overs on truck. The FX4 suspension alone gave this 2wd another 1.5 inches of lift in front. On top of the FX4 stock fronts we added an Auto Spring 1.5 inch leveling kit. Overall the truck gained over 3 inches of lift in front. The rear got our FX4 stock blocks. Pretty cheap way of lifting our 2wd.

Then we added 17x9 Raceline Assults, with Nitto Terra Grapplers in 295/70/17. The chrome bumpers got plasti-dipped, and we added a Smittybilt front light bar with Baja Design La paz lights.

Not good! Some aftermarket control arms are needed.

How much power loss did you experience with the increased tire size?

We have not started the dyno testing yet. We did loose a couple MPG with the new wheel and tire set up.

Here is a pic of the FX4 front strut Vs the 2wd front strut. Just thought some guys might like to see how much taller the FX4 is.
