2012 XLT oxford white
I wanted to start a thread to keep track of the mods. I picked up a 2012 XLT in February 2018, I wanted a Raptor but have an 80 mile daily commute so I couldn’t afford the 6.2 along with the Raptor price tag. I instead bought a 3.7 with 3.73 rear end. Future mods include regearing to 4.56 (37s in the future) and adding a power sliding rear window. Currently working on sourcing all the parts for that swap. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...cf6f6c885.jpeg The day I purchased https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...075c934f4.jpeg After a few mods https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...ef1098bec.jpeg Washed/clayed and sealed. |

Looks really good. Clean thank you, still a work in progress. I have an appointment for a regear to 4.56 and adding a B&M differential cover to help with extra fluid capacity. |

Raptor steering wheel installed tonight.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...977e18877.jpeg Picked this wheel up online from a shop called Handkraftd, 100% plug and play. Install took about 20 minutes with regular hand tools. |
Trailer brake controller
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...3dbe2a62e.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...f789a81e7.jpeg I installed the OEM trailer brake controller today. Install was a breeze, 15 minutes start to finish and factory wiring was taped up next to the OBD2 plug. Still need to take in the to have the dealer “enable” the controller before it works. They are charging $110 (1 hour labor) which I think is highway robbery. I like the ForScan program but I don’t own a laptop, only iPads. |
Regear and new Diff cover installed.
Had the rear end regeared last week, also installed the B&M differential cover. It’s about 2” deeper over the stock cover for added fluid capacity. Also has load bolts that support the bearing caps, should add some strength to the 8.8”. Here’s a link to the diff cover is anyone is interested. Also can be used as a bully blunder if people ride to close on the freeway. 👌🏻 |
