A cable in the lift broke.

Then when she was all buttoned up, something sounded horribly wrong. Turns out they had damaged the vacuum lines to engage the 4WD during the install. This was on a Friday so I couldn't drive my truck the whole weekend. I ended up having it flat-bedded back to the shop as I didn't want to cause any damage to the truck.

The shop got it fixed at no additional cost to me and were very apologetic so all was good but man, that was a sh%tty experience.

Hope you get everything straightened out shortly. The truck looks awesome!
So yours would not go into four wheel drive? Although I have the exact opposite issue (everythings normal in 4 wheel, but stuff hits the fan in 2) I'm thinking the same thing, that the only thing that makes sense is a vacuum issue because they didn't ever pop the hood. The only thing they had to do was take the vacuum operated hubs apart to fit the new lift knuckles, and re routing hoses and lines.

Glad yours was worked out though, hopefully I can get it straightened out so I can give an honest review of the shop and the lift.

Sounds like you have a vacuum issue. Mine was fine in 4 also but when you switch to 2WD, it sounded awful. There isn't enough vacuum pressure to pull the hub to disengage 4WD so you hear almost a humming / slight grinding noise. When in 4WD, the vacuum is released and the hub engages as normal. Evidently these vacuum lines are very easy to damage. If the shop damaged them (like the shop did on mine), they should cover the cost to replace them.

Good luck!

Edit: Here's a link to the thread I started when I was having issues. There may be some useful info for you. https://www.f150forum.com/f38/my-lev...r-pics-282115/

I looked through that thread last night, and a few others that were super helpful. I got the truck back this afternoon and so far everything is good after about 80 miles. They said that the driver side hub seal failed and there was a leak on that side, causing the opposite side hub to grind, which is consistent with what I learned last night. No damage was done to the hubs, or anything else in the 4x4 system, and the shop fixed it promptly, so no harm no foul.

Haha yeah I was hoping for everything to go smoothly for once but I should know better by now. At least it did get fixed completely and I can finally enjoy it. I should just budget like twice the amount of time for this type of stuff.

It's been a while since I've posted on here, and for good reason. Shortly after getting everything resolved with the lift and heading back to school for the first week of classes, my dad discovered a large oil spot underneath the truck after it had been sitting over the weekend. It turns out it had a leak from the bell housing, and the factory skid plate and insulation had been keeping the oil from seeping onto the ground at a noticeable rate. With all that removed, it was free to leak all over the driveway.

We took it to our local ford dealer, and had them fix the seal, and put a new filter and fluid in. This is only a month after I had the transmission completely refreshed when we bought the truck. The labor was about 10x the cost of the parts, which is always funny to see on the receipt. This whole repair made me a little nervous, because it was the second major repair (new vacuum pump) in less than a month, and we would be asking for reimbursement under the warranty given to us by the dealer we bought the truck used from.

After a lot of back and forth, and a good bit of effort, the dealer we bought the truck from coughed up about 75% of the amount that was due. They argued that we should've jumped through hoops to show them the issues first, ask for approval and then get the truck fixed, instead of just taking care of it where we saw fit. That really pissed me off, but since we have a very good relationship with our dealer, they helped us out with almost all of the remaining cost we had to absorb.

In the end, no lawyers were involved, no one fought over voided warranty because the truck was lifted and our trusted dealer came through for us. Not a bad outcome at all.

Now, I have another question for anyone with Fox 2.0 rear shocks. I had them installed as an upgrade with the BDS 4 inch lift, and they've made a lot of noise since new. I always thought the rattling/loose bolt noise was from the brake lines moving around in the relocation bracket, but now I know the actual cause. When you load and unload the rear suspension, the shock is free to move up and down in the bed mount. It's as if the shock mounting hole is much bigger than the bolt that goes through it. If you took a pen (the bolt in this case) and put it in the middle of a wedding ring (the upper mounting hole of the shock) and moved the ring up and down while keeping the pen horizontal, you will contact the inside of the ring with the pen. This is what is currently happening with both of my shocks.

The bolts on both sides are tight, and there is a bushing between the shock mounting hole and the bolt, but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. I have emailed BDS but haven't talked to my installer yet. Has anyone had a similar issue? I can't imagine that these shocks fit like that. The stock ones on my dads truck are as tight and solid as can be, and my stock ones were the same way.

Any input would be a huge help, thanks.
