You may remember me from this build.. https://www.f150forum.com/f78/2011-b...-black-257125/
Well, I've sold it and moved on to a... 2004 F150 SuperCrew Lariat 5.4 3v 4x4 3.73 open diff 277,000kms Kind of a weird mish mash of reasons for selling the '11 and going to the '04: 1)For starters I hated the payments, If I can't pay cash for anything it drives me nuts until it's paid for. 4 more years and I would have stabbed myself. 2)The truck market was very hot at the time, they were selling for good money left and right to our fine neighbours to the south 3)I couldn't have fun with the '11, I didn't want to get it dirty, scratch it, drive it hard, or really do truck stuff with it. Enter Larry: $5700 was the asking price, On first drive by it looked like your run of the mill 11 year old canadian truck. Rust around the fenders, sagging weather stripping, dents and dings but overall all 6/10 on appearance. We settled on $5000 and I drove it home. Attachment 507520 Attachment 507521 We got it up on the hoist (thanks @BubbaMcf ) and started making a list of things it needed. 1) Manifold (right hand side) 2) sway bar link 3) Rotor 4) Ujoints in rear shaft (had to get a shaft from a later model) 5) Seal between transmission and Transfer case 6) Misc tune up items Not a bad list, seems about on par for an 11 year old truck Attachment 507522 First was some maintenance: Attachment 507523 Attachment 507524 The clunking and banging that sway bar link made you'd think the front end of the truck was completely shot! It feels much tighter now and much more quiet. After that I decided I didn't want to do the manifold myself so I sourced it out to a small shop in town. $623 later (just labour) and it's good as new, he said it was the worst one he had ever seen (yeah I bet they all are.. $$) Anywho, I asked to see the manifold, it was extremely thin, to the point where he hit it on the work bench and a flange broke right off. Attachment 507525 Next up was a concerning oil change. The 5.4 is noisy by nature I'm told, but judging by the next picture this may be a reason why, that jug is 3.78 litres and that's all the oil that drained from the engine. Attachment 507526 I checked the oil before purchase and the level looked good, another person also checked it later and it looked good as well. I'll have to keep an eye on it the next little bit. Now that all the boring stuff is out of the way I can start having a bit of fun with it. I don't plan to take this truck too seriously so some of the things might be a bit ridiculous and you may think WTF? Just laugh because most of the things I've added have made me laugh as well. I found the mud flaps years ago in a buddies garage, I knew I'd need them some day. Attachment 507527 Attachment 507528 cock-eyed by design. |

Next up was a chrome tip and a CB antenna whip.
Attachment 507515 Attachment 507516 CB whip is non functional of course Next up was a good old spit shine and polish, extra care given to the white letters. Attachment 507517 Attachment 507518 And there you have it, total investment is somewhere around $5800. I have a plan to take care of the rust spots with a few strategic add ons, like flares and a bug deflector! Something I always cringed doing in my '11 but love to do now.. Attachment 507519 |

You should paint the truck black, get some Lincoln MKV 20" wheels and dip them black, get some 2" wheel spacers with some 305/55/20 Cooper Zeons. Convert the interior to FX4 black leather, get some LED headlight bulbs and a raptor exhaust, remove your rear block to level it all out and paint your F150 badge centers red, worthwhile upgrades if you ask me :D

You should put a wanted to buy ad on kijiji for some raptor running boards too, would compliment the rest of the mods nicely :D

Small update, since it's been awhile.
Larry was in an accident, bent the frame horn and bumper and smashed a few other bits, including my horn. I opted for the cash payout to fix it myself and this is what the result was.. Immediately after the accident.. He was at fault, was turning left and hit me head on. Attachment 569348 Larry stayed the night in the parking lot until Bubba could come rescue him Attachment 569349 Attachment 569350 Now that he's home let the rebuild begin! Attachment 569351 Attachment 569352 Attachment 569353 I picked up a set of flares and wheel spacers along the way Attachment 569354 Sporting the new primer bumper minus fogs for a future upgrade: Attachment 569355 Nasty Attachment 569356 Attachment 569357 |

Finally, added some 35" Procomp Tires and wheels from a 2015. Last to do is paint and cut the bumper.
Attachment 569346 Oh and if you look closely at the bottom of the box in the previous picture, you'll understand this: Attachment 569347 |
