Default 2003 F150 XLT Street Build

I bought this 2WD 2003 F150 XLT in May 2012. When I got it, it was bone stock and plain white. Kinda reminded me of a fleet vehicle from the power company!

But hey, that just means I had a blank canvas to work on!

The first things I did was to replace the missing vent visor on the passenger side, redo the faded tint on the front windows and install some cooler headlights and turn signals.

Next came a little interior work. I spent a LOT of time cleaning, wrapped the steering wheel with a new cover, and installed some CoverKing neoprene seat covers. CoverKing's cover for the center console fit really poorly, so I got some matching material from an upholstery shop and sewed up my own cover for the center console lid.

Next came the stripes! This was probably the single biggest appearance change to the truck. It took me about 3 hours total to install the Camaro-style ralley stripes and the rocker panel stripes. I really like the flat black look with the gloss white of the paint. The bottom picture really shows the dent in the middle of the front bumper... That really bugged me, and would have to go soon.

I really liked the lights I installed up front, but the back was still a little boring, imo. I searched all over, but I couldn't find just the right lights for my truck. These came the closest, available in black, chrome or carbon fiber:

I liked the shape, but I didn't like any of the 3 finish options. So, I ordered the black, then masked off the lenses and painted the body of the lights with Duplicolor to match the finish of the truck. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

Next, I did a little more work on the interior. I bought some carbon fiber Di-Noc film and wrapped a few different things. I'll do more of this on the interior as time goes on.

I like having daytime running lights, so I added some driving lights behind the grille and wired them to turn on/off with the ignition.

The truck needed a brake job, so I upgraded to drilled & slotted rotors with ceramic pads. While I was at it, I added a little color to the calipers.

With the weather starting to turn, I wanted some dry storage space in the bed, but I hated the hard fiberglass cover I had on my Dodge. So I did some research and went with a tri-fold cover from TonnoPro. It's light enough to be easily removed by one person, reasonable water proof, and looks good.

While pondering my truck, I decided that the OEM door moldings weren't working for me so I spent an hour with an eraser wheel, some Goof-Off and a rag, and I got rid of them. I think the change was well worth the elbow grease.
