1993 "overhaul and bed liner paint job

When I first bought the truck me and my wife gave it the nick name "Rusty". This truck is used as a "beater"... hauling corn, getting to a favorite fishing hole, checking trail cameras and of coarse the occasional trip to Lowes . I have had this truck for several years and the rust finally became bad enough that it was now or never on making it solid again. The rear spring hangers rusted into and there was holes in the floor of the bed. I decided it was time for some TLC! Knowing the abuse the truck would take i decided a bed liner paint job would be a good option. Over the next few days i will post my progress i have made over the last couple months.

Bed unbolted and ready for removal.

Once the bed was removed it was time to dive in!

It reminded me of something you would see on the titanic.

After removing the rust jack I could actually see what i was working with. It was a little worse off then i thought.

I cutout and installed two patches on the back section of the frame. The inside of the frame and the patch were both sprayed with a weld threw primer.

New rear mounts and shackle were installed.

Descaled the frame with a needle scaler.

the frame was sprayed with Zero Rust paint and then top coated with upol raptor bed liner. New 2810lbs leaf springs were installed.

The floor of the bed was replaced with sheet metal. I had a flang bent on the sides so it would fit correctly. Three of the crossmembers also had to be replaced.

Now this is a "build." Very nice progress. I'm going to be watching this one to see how it turns out. Great work and welcome to the forum.

Damn.... now you have no reason to feel bad for all the abuse the truck has taken!

Looks great!

The heavy springs caused the truck to have a 3.25'' rake. With the 2" factory blocks removed the truck sets nice.

Made a hitch step. Added a couple of rock lights as backup lights. Still needs to be wired to the truck.
