02 Lariat 4x4
I started this project back in September. Should have started back in May...
The truck is in descent shape but the engine was getting tired after 215K miles. I looked at replacing the truck and decided it was worth keeping!
Wasn't going to do the box store overhaul drop in as I plan to hang onto it. Checked Jasper and was quoted $7100 to install an overhauled engine. Then I stepped outside the box nad started, looking at building an engine from scratch.
I started with a Ford Racing 5.4 block from Summit, Manley forged rods, Ford 8 bolt forged crank, Speed Pro HE stock pistons, Manley rings, and Clevite bearings. I added a Modular Motorsport Racing rear seal support plate.
Chains and fixed guides from fordparts.store, tensioner and guides from Modular Motorsport Racing as well at the trigger wheel.
Heads are StockMod from Modular Head shop and topped off with Trickflow black valve covers, BBK 75 mm throttle body and cold air intake. There are trick flow 24 lb injectors and MSD COPs controlling the burn. Best part of these heads are the deep plug threads. No more blown plugs.
Finally got it together and running. Took it to my local tuner in Noblesville and we found an issue with the cam. We called Jordan and he had the fix in work soon as we hung up. Should have it up and running in a week or so. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to.
Regards
Jeff

The truck...
My 02 Lariat 4x4.
Once its running reliably and the tune is good I’ll be adding long tubes and a cat back. Thinking to paint it to match my 13 2SSCamaro... 😳

Well it took longer than I thought to get it running. Getting cams fromComp turned out to take a month. Also found out the intake was bad ( leaking under thermostat). Thanks again to fordparts.store! Anyway... I got it running yesterday and it’s smooth as silk. Off to the tuner next week to see how it does.
Tried to upload a short vid but it says I’m missing a security token...On another note, anyone know what this expansion chamber is for?

It's done!
Drove the truck home yesterday and it is running great! No complaints. Dyno results are attached. I wish I could have run it on a dyno before the renew. Based on some "internet info" I found these 2v 150's put down a bit over 190 at the rear wheels so I am happy with 212 at the wheels. This is on year old pump gas and stock exhaust. Once I am comfortable with the condition of the truck I'll be adding Dynteck longtubes n such then back to the dyno.
