How to install rear blocks

these 2 inch blocks are stock from factory on the average sc xlt 4x4 correct?
if so could i replace them with 4 inch blocks and shock extenders or longer shocks for a little more lift/clearance in the rear?
when i bought this truck, it already had a circular aluminum looking leveling block kit up front which probly equates to 2-2.5 inch lift which i may replace with bilstein coilovers since i hear this type of leveling kit is bad for balljoints, axle half shaft alignment etc etc.
i plan to put aggressive 35s on before next hunting season so any cheap clearance/lift i can get will help with fitment/rubbing issues

For the rear, yes the ones I used were blocks that come off a 4X4. So replacing the stock blocks with a 4" block is the same concept I did this write up on and yes you might need longer shocks especially if you will be offroading.

Here is a more recent picture of my 2wd with 2.5" level and 2" rear blocks. This one has my 33s on.

On a 2wd some people on here have fit 35s with a 3" level and with new wheels with different back spacing. On a 2wd I would recommend go with a suspension lift to clear 35s if you want a lot of clearance though.
What truck do you have and plan on doing with it? That can help give more options.

results!
Well after eej711 made it easy for the diy'r. I decided to tackle this project today. I have a 2008 F150 XLT 2WD sitting on 35's with minimal rub. A 2.5 inch.procomp leveling kit in the front end and had nothing in the rear. Truck looked like it was dragging from the rear.. Didnt like it much. I decided to try this out. From the local junkyard I picked up the OEM 2 inch 4WD BLOCK $40, I picked up the OEM Ubolts from a local 4wheelparts store that they had taken off a previous 4x4 truck $20. Pics are attached.
Oh. btw no problems with the stock shock with the lifts.

Thanks to this thread!!
Picked up my 2010 Platinum 2wd with a 2.5 level already installed and to top it off the previous owner added a shell. The truck just sat nose high.
I picked up an oem 2" block kit from a 2006 fx4 for $60. I installed the kit and it looks perfect now. I know I should just post a before and after pic, but I was just too anxious.

I wish my lift kit had those style blocks! My Zone kit does not have the tab protruding to the side of the black, so I lost the functionality of my bump stops.
