My FX4 actually didnt come with courtesy bulbs, so I got the connectors from a junk yard and ran them from the dome light wire. The dome light, courtesy lamps, and cargo lamp run off the same Black/Blue wire.

So anything your dome light does with the key fob, so will your handle lights.

So your unlock button will turn them on, while your lock buttom cuts them off. Like the last video shows.

Thats about the only thing I hate about my truck, it never had a fob. You would think the wiring would still be in there to program one though?

IBD - This is WONDERFUL documentation - and results! The spring provides long-term functionality - with such detail, that it SHOULD have been a factory install! Congrats on a well-thought out project, and thanks for sharing it with this forum! (BTW, I WILL be doing this, as I already have the strips - and am waiting for my Dynamat soundproofing to arrive).

Thank you very much. The spring is pretty much the life of the mod, I didn't want wires getting caught and my handle not closing all the way.

I am anxious to see how yours looks. Make sure to post up pics!!

What do you feel the longevity of the wire will be getting pressure from the spring? I ask because repeated pulling of the wire in theory will eventually break the wire.

Not much pressure is on the wire. But of course overtime it will loosen and pull, but I dont really see that happening for a while. The insulator is made to flex and move. If you want you could put a piece of string through the spring and fix it to the wire so it helps with the load. But a few ounces of pressure on a good insulated wire for a relatively short period of time is no need to worry. Pressure only occurs when the handle is pulled. So the wire is inert for 99% of the time, with no pressure from the spring.
