Post [Easy Guide] - Disable key in ignition door chime (Performed on 2013 Platinum)

Easy to follow guide on how to do this simple fix, completely reversible!

This will stop the "open door chime" when your key is in the ignition and not running. Nothing else will be effected.

The vehicle pictured is 2013 F150 Platinum.

What you need:
  • 15 minutes
  • 5.5mm socket (7/32 will work)
  • 7mm socket (9/32 will work)
  • Small screwdriver to push in plastic tabs

It would be really nice if one of those was also the turn signal. :P

I have a thread write-up, check it out. You can quiet down the chime and turn signal very easily without muting it completely.

Worked great. The tab, which is found same side as the red protector ,opened easy when I used a xacto blade with the point ground down like a slotted screw driver.Hard to see the tab. This mod.along with engaging the door latch allows to open door, and listen to radio.Engage the door latch with a 1/4 socket extension or round screwdriver shaft.,simulating the truck side latch
