Dash Mount CB Install How to:
#41
You could put the fuse there some say it's the correct way to do it. I'd never use the cigarette lighter for a power source but then again my cb draws way too much power to get the feed from that source. I have hooked cb up that way in the past for receive purposes but was noisy from electrical interference. Use to run my mobile ham rig but needed more power on a.m. And cb channels. On our farm it's the only reliable communication.

I'll vote.. Definitely fuse your leads early in the line, especially in a vehicle installation! Within 8 inches of the battery as someone else mentioned is a very good idea! It'll take ya 10 minutes and just may save you from a serious world of hurt!

Not CB, but I finally found a way I like to mount my Ham rig.
Proclip mount for the control head of my Yaesu 8900R Quad bander.
Guts of the radio is under the back seat.
Antenna is a Comet SBB-14 Tribander on an Diamond K400 mount on driver's side of the hood.
