You could put the fuse there some say it's the correct way to do it. I'd never use the cigarette lighter for a power source but then again my cb draws way too much power to get the feed from that source. I have hooked cb up that way in the past for receive purposes but was noisy from electrical interference. Use to run my mobile ham rig but needed more power on a.m. And cb channels. On our farm it's the only reliable communication.

I'll vote.. Definitely fuse your leads early in the line, especially in a vehicle installation! Within 8 inches of the battery as someone else mentioned is a very good idea! It'll take ya 10 minutes and just may save you from a serious world of hurt!

Are you running those antennas cophased being so close together? That gives you good front to back but the side rejection is high. Looks great though.

Yeah, they are cophased. I know they're not the ideal distance apart, but I don't do much yakkin on the thing. Just installed it to bring me back to my youth. LOL! Waitin on a buddy of mine to get his setup. We'll be able to really test this setup out and see how far we get side to side.

Thanks for the compliment!

This is my rig in my f250 I run a 102 inch steel whip. We run dogs for deer in the swamp. Never had a fiberglass antenna last. Mine is mounted on the tool box.

If you really want a cb, check out the cobra 75 wx. Everything is contained in the "mic". Perfect for limited-space applications.

Not CB, but I finally found a way I like to mount my Ham rig.

Proclip mount for the control head of my Yaesu 8900R Quad bander.
Guts of the radio is under the back seat.
Antenna is a Comet SBB-14 Tribander on an Diamond K400 mount on driver's side of the hood.
