That is fantastic, the still pictures and a video, I have no excuse for not knowing how to get to the circuit board now.
However, when you are there, are you adding solder to that little line of dots, or are we fixing a dry solder joint. sorry to be such a big dummy about this. Still not my favorite part of the truck to be, everything seems so delicate.

great howto for 99-03 trucks, but totally inapplicable to 97-98, and the odometers are always just as prone to failure (for obviously different reasons).

So for the very first step does that collar around steering pull straight up or toward the steering wheel? Don't want to snap any clips on first step everything else looks good.

thanks!

Thanks for the pictures it helped greatly! Fortunately my daughters BF was over who is a car guy looked at my solder job as I couldn't see well with my cheaters he said I needed a touch more I was worried about ruining the trace but it is up and running. Need to get one of those counter magnifiers for circuit work. also used my panel removal kit from harbor freight to just come in on top of light switch to depress tang and slide out. Only took about an hour and 15 minutes i think but also swapped out the turn signal flasher as I had the hyper flash. Got my hand up in there but what a PITA to get out and get back in trying to line the 5 pins up.

Oh and I missed 2 screws somewhere on panel. The clusters screws are in but heard a rattle in cup holder and said crap! It was getting dark and I was tired so will have to get those in place tomorrow.

Default Removing the plastic cluster cover

I just want to pull the plastic cover off of the cluster so I can clean behind it. How far into this procedure do I need to go to just do that? Any Ideas?

Pretty far. You do need access to the cover screws and I’d want to do that with the cluster free and clear to avoid any hang ups.
