Default Thanks for the write up!

Is this the only way to remove the mirrors? I just knocked my drivers side mirror in a parking garage and need to replace it. Only the outer movable portion is damaged, not the whole assembly. Is there anyway to just remove/replace that portion?

Also the mirror itself is now loose in the mirror housing and I cant get it to snap back into place, its kinda just hanging there. Any tips on getting it lined back up so I can use it until I repair it?

Tools you will need. 1/4" drive socket set. And a hook type tool.(I got mine at Lowe's tool section) You may want a small flat head screw driver as well. I just used the hook tool.

On the bottom of the interior panel there are 2 6mm screws. (I only took a pic of one of them)

Then, here's where you'll need the hook tool. There's a plastic cover over the screw in the door pull. (You may want t use a small flat head screwdriver here, if you're scared of ruining anything) its an 8mm screw.

Here behind the door handle is another spot you'll need the hook tool. To reveal another 8mm screw.

Then you'll need to pull up. Straight up. As in toward the sky, not out!!!

Thanks for the great write up. Removed each side in about 10 minutes and replaced platinum tow mirrors with regular ones. Another 10 to replace. Tip.... when your trying to align door lock up... found it was easier to removed black trim ring from door around lock then replace it over the top when door panel is securely in place.

Thank you very much for posting the photos and instruction on removing the door panel. It went very smooth , just like you outlined. I'm happy to be saving some $$ from the stealer and enjoyed doing the work myself.

This site is a plethora of fantastic information and is quite invaluable to anyone who is even a little mechanically inclined...I literally don't do anything to my truck without looking here first!

This thread is a God-send. I am having some squeaking noises coming from my passenger side door and narrowed the sound down to behind the passenger door panel's arm rest area. I was a little hesitant to peel off my door panel but this thread gave me the guidance I need to dig in and get rid of that squeaky sound. Thanks for the write up

Although this remote auto-fold ForScan mod is shown as an F150 mod, I’m trying to set up my 2017 F250 (with towing mirrors) for the auto fold mirrors on lock. It shows the same mod on the Super Duty spreadsheet, but I am just not getting it right. I swapped pins 18/19 in both pass. and driver mirror harnesses, but no luck. The wire colors for 18/19 were close but not exactly as per the F150 noted mod, but I was assuming it would be the same as the harnesses and pins in use look identical. I’ve tried both Lincoln style and regular codes in the modules but no joy.

Anyone have similar issues and resolve it??

Scott
