I drilled a hole in the silver pin, put a small wire-tie through it loosely, then put larger wire-tie through the small one, tightened the small one, now I have the larger one sticking up where I can grab it a lot easier.

Default My Solution: Latch Cable Pull w/Pics

I used a 10" length of 1/16" cable that I can easily reach just behind the headrest on both LH and RH sides. Now that I've completed it, I think 12" of cable might have made it a little bit easier to reach and flush with the seat back, but this works fine.

I drilled a 1/8" hole through the post on the latch, looped the cable, and crimped the cable connectors.

I agree that there is not a huge amount of space back there, but I now have easy access to my amp mounted on the back wall, and some blankets and other "just in case" emergency stuff I keep back there.

Default This is not for 2004-2008

I read this thread yesterday and tried to locate the latch in my 2008 today, only to find out, it doesn't have this type of latch.

Just to clarify, I believe this is for 2009 and newer. For 2004-2008 rear seat-back removal see this thread.

Thanks for the pic's Kingement, I did this mod today, used 3/32 cable as it was a litttle stiffer and and easier to grab. Cost me under 3.00 bucks for supplies from Home Depot and an hour of my time. It maybe something small but I love it, have my first aid kit, jumper cables, road side emergency and chains back there (still room for more less utilized items to stuff back there).

I haven't ever looked back there. I will have to check it out.

Does anyone have a pic of what the whole thing looks like when the seat is folded?

Yup the 2011 is exactly the same thing. I had not bothered to lower backseat so I didn't really know how until this thread. Works great. Just stuck my jumper cables, tow strap and blanket behind the seat.

I tried it last night. Someone suggested using the closed end of a box wrench to pull the tab. worked great! I was able to access behind the seat. Good place to keep those items you'll rarely need; and a good spot for an amplifier.

I'll do the wire mod to it for easier access.

Thanks

Default All the way?

I was about to put a cable on this peg, but I noticed the seat only comes forward about 8 or 9 inches and won't fold down all the way. Is that what it's supposed to do? The pic shows the distance mine folds forwards. Or am I being a wimp and just need to man handle it?
