04+ odometer fix
so those with a 04+ know that the f150 should have a low fuel light but doesnt, and the chime isnt heard with the stereo on, but we have the lcd display, until the bulb goes out...then what?
well how to fix it: remove the lower dash kick panel, 2 9/32 bolts, then pull out, then remove the dash cover, again 2 9/32 screws and pull out. remove the 2 electrical connectors, then the 4 9/32 screws that hold the cluster, remove the 7 or 9 8mm screws that hold the clear sheet on and change the bulb, install is reverse of removal. this fixed mine...and now its bright green and awesome (posted this in the 04+ also as that gets more traffic, and i wanted to show it, but i figure it should be here also) |
Does this fix not being able to see the numbers at all? My display in that area on my '05 is completely blank.

If you have a blank screen I'd say you have more going on than a bulb.

that is what i am afraid of... wonder if it is still keeping track of mileage...

I have problems getting the dash off of my truck. I get the kick panel off and then im stuck. I took off the two bolts on the dash but when I try to pull it out I feel like im going to break something. Am I missing something or should I quit being a baby and pull it out?

In your words, "quit being a baby and pull it out". Tore mine apart a couple weeks ago several different times. Might help to get a skinny flat head and work your way around the edges starting on the lower right and left sides. Just gently use it to pry, once you get enough up for a good grip, just pull.
The shifter display (the one with P R N D 2 1) has a clips on the sides that you just squeeze together and it slides right out. I'm only posting this because I struggled with that concept. |
