there are plenty of fans on ebay.... just search "16" electric fan". for the controller, you can buy it from www.dccontrol.com. they have several models available, based on how many amps your fans will draw, and whether or not you have an electric water pump.

i plan on ordering some real soon and doing this same mod.... i was going to go with Troyer's, but this is half the price, with a much better controller. i like the fact that the fan doesnt have to be either "on" or "off", but it is controlled to variable speeds based on the engine temp.

Was there a considerable change in fuel mileage?

yes, just pick 2 and go..... but, make sure they EACH put out at least 2500 cfm, or you could overheat still. there are plenty available in the 16" range. they mostly all come with a mounting kit as well (kinda like zip ties that mount through the radiator fins.

the controller kit used in the OP is a very good one. i think im going to go with the next model, to get a little better fine tuning for the temp. the FK50 controller can be adjusted by 3 degree increments. i like the fact that the fan speed in controlled variably, and it isnt either "on full speed" or "off". i think when i place my order i will even get a spare temp sensor while im at in for the "just in case". and Murphy's Law: when you have a spare, you never actually need one !!!

ive been doing a bit of research on this mod, and you can spend a lot of money on a "kit". for expample, the troyer kit is over 400 plus shipping. granted, when it is installed, it appears completely stock. but, i can deal without the "looks" for half the price. afterall, im the only one who looks under my hood.

you dont need to spend money on a "name" to get the same results. fact is, all you need to do is shed the dead weight of the fan and clutch.....any e-fan will keep the engine cool......(for the most part... there's always better qualities, etc).

hope this helps you !

You may want to research the Mark 8 (Mark VIII) Fans a bit... they push around 5,000 cfm EACH and are about $50-$100 on eBay after shipping. You would still need an electronics package, but they are a very cheap, quality single fan to use.

i looked at them, i went with new fans for about the same price that use much less amperage then the mark 8

What exactly do the fans do? I understood what you wrote at the bottom of the first post but you said you now had more room. Meaning what exactly?

The stock fan is mounted on a 2-speed clutch on the front of the engine. It takes up a lot of room.... basically everything between the engine and your radiator is already used up. By installing an electric fan with a shallow shroud you can gain back much of the room that was used up by the factory clutch fan and extended shroud.

More room means he has plenty of extra space in his engine bay now.

Any difference in wiring or mounting for a 2003 Scab setup? I noticed a lot of the writeups are for 2004+

Oh yeah... www.dccontrol.com link doesn't work do you have any other links for the control box?
