Maybe check the fuse for the 4X4 system? If no power on the solenoid it vents off.

Fuses are all good.
Hubs disengaged after pulling the vacuum lines Off and on and wiggling the wire harness to the solenoid while the engine was running. Switched into 4hi, locked as expected but will not disengage switching back to 2wd. Played with everything again and I eventually got them to disengage again. Possibly the 4x4 switch and harness not communicating with iwe solenoid? Thoughts?

That's possible. Maybe try checking your connections, clean them up, and stick some dielectric grease on them. There was another member, IIRC, that had an intermittent problem with the connector at the solenoid. I think he used a ziptie to hold it in place.

I’ll try that next. Any chance you know a part number for the connector to the solenoid?

I'm afraid I can't help there. Dealer should be able to tell you, or someone else here. Something else you might try. Turn the key to on, and have someone turn the 4X switch back and forth while you hold onto the solenoid, you should be able to feel it click.

Thank you. I’ll try that next.

Need help here...
04 supercrew 4x4 5.4
replaced new soleiend with rain sheild it doesn’t help.
i could feel some vibrate (it’s not constant. Come and goes) on the floor and gas pedal at approx 40-65mph.
when I turned 4 wheel drive on, it’s all quiet, no vibrate.
a auto repair at shop, he think it’s from rear diff.possible pinion bearing...then I showed him on the road and turned on 4wd it’s all good he said admitted he has no idea...and not really familiar with f150..
its annoying....
just ordered check value since it’s cheap...could be here Monday.
i follwed your instruction...
lift the front tires tires off the ground...
motor on, the axles are not spun. No grind noise.
motor OFF it is locked and axles spun
I used auto zone rent tool vacuum pump with gauge, plugged it in big hole at actuator. I noticed that front passenger is very slowly leaking....front driver is steady.
Whats possible ???
what else to check ??
thnaks
