some of them do, if you pull yours off and there is one it's suggested you replace it.

if the battery supply is completely cut off of it, it should be closed from my understanding.
There might be a few millimeters of separation but nothing more

If you read the small print on the back of MOST cans of carb cleaner, it says "Safe for throttle bodys and fuel injection systems".

The warning I posted was what multiple reputable sources said (haynes, chilton, etc.), I would hate to ruin a TB because I said they could.

Cleaned my TB last night, 175k miles of dirty and filth. Got it all cleaned up but noticed the previous owner had snapped the head off one of the tps screws and had wire wrapped around to hold it on so it will have to come back off when I get time and get that fixed. Found this thread helpfull!

This is a nice write up!! I did a search and found this thread. I decided to try this today, and found some nasty gunk/grime build up. Cleaned everything up and truck seems to run smoother now. Thanks for the info!!

Thanks for the awesome write up man. I just used it to clean both my throttle body and MAF. I'm actually letting it all dry right now. While I have never cleaned my MAF before there was a nice perfect fingerprint on the back side of the MAF! lol. Who knows...

I clean mine once a month and it is amazing how much crap is built up in between...

When I start it up again, there is always a big black cloud coming from the exhaust as it is cleaning out the runners...
