For quicker drain down of the system, disconnect both negative and positive battery terminals, then short them together.

February 4,2017...2000 5.4L engine still is running fine...idling smoothly at 650 rpm and lower when hot. Accelerates without hesitation. Lots of power.
Check engine light came on with a P0175 code (rich 2nd bank) some months later. Engine still ran fine. Ford said they wouldn't work on an after market forced induction system (ProCharger). Ford suggested that I take vehicle to a high performance auto shop. I did. The high performance shop said I should spend $4,000 and get new fuel injectors, move the high pressure fuel pump to inside fuel tank, and refurbish Procharger. I contacted Procharger...the real issue was I had a K&N filter that was 15 years old (5 years out of warranty). I didn't notice that after 15 years of cleaning, the filter's foam had degraded and clumped into the vertices of the filter. Who remembers to replace an air filter after 100,000 miles? I was at 150,000 miles. I replaced the K&N filer 4 months ago and the code never returned.

Had air filters on a motorcycle do that once after 2 years and 18,000 miles on it.

Found this online.. And tired of typing it to everyone asking.. So here you go 
This is used for clearing codes by disconnecting the battery cable for 15 mins. Be sure there is no cell phone chargers/lap top/anything like that plugged in. While cables are disconneted i always cycle the key. And turn the head lights on. Then follow it up by the relearn process.
Battery relearn
Because your vehicle’s engine is electronically controlled by a computer,
some control conditions are maintained by power from the battery. When
the battery is disconnected or a new battery is installed, the engine must
relearn its idle and fuel trim strategy for optimum driveability and
performance. Flexible fuel vehicles (FFV) must also relearn the ethanol
content of the fuel for optimum driveability and performance. To begin
this process:
1. With the vehicle at a complete stop, set the parking brake.
2. Put the gearshift in P (Park), turn off all accessories and start the
engine.
3. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
4. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
5. Turn the A/C on and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
6. Release the parking brake. With your foot on the brake pedal and with
the A/C on, put the vehicle in D (Drive) and allow the engine to idle for
at least one minute.
7. Drive the vehicle to complete the relearning process.
• The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles (16 km) or more to
relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy along with the ethanol content
for flexible fuel vehicles.
• If you do not allow the engine to relearn its idle trim, the idle quality
of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the idle trim is
eventually relearned.
• For flexible fuel vehicles, if you are operating on E85, you may
experience poor starts or an inability to start the engine and
driveability problems until the fuel trim and ethanol content have been
relearned.

Tune
Will this work with a tune? I have the Edge Evolution (Gryphon) on the 1st tune (trans only), so if I do the re-learn, would I do it with the tune or should I return to stock and do the re-learn, and then reinstall the tune?

cleaned my maf sensor (wasn#t really dirty) because I had a rough idle and had a gas smell at idle, and bad gas mileage. did this ecm relearn for s & grins.... truck idles great and no gas smell ! gonna fill up my tank and see how many miles I can get now.... so far so good!
