97-03 V8 F150 spark plug change
#71
I took off all COP's and I found out that it wasnt too bad. The fule rail was nothing to move. Since I am changing out the pulgs should I change the injectors out as well? They and COP's are dirty. More then normal.

Question on COP's, I have one that looks like it is shorter then the rest, I pulled it appart, (Boot from Coil) and the boot was torn, spring is way short. Any ideas what caused that to happen?

Akson40, all of my boots were the same. I did end up replacing a couple. If you want to make a good investment and have ease of mind, sure change them all. As for the short one, I wonder if one of them had an insert from a previously stripped spark plug.
I see no reason, other than very slightly better fuel mileage, to replace all the injectors. Those suckers aren't cheap. Absolutely be sure to replace all the O rings, top and bottom. I tried too get by with replacing only the ones on the injectors that I saw move. Two days later I had to replace all of them after being towed back to the country from the city, were my truck leaked fuel everywhere.

Kdcntn, Thanks for the info. As you said my #3 has an insert in it and I cant seem to get it out. I have a sav-a-thread spark plug port Repair kit that I would like to try. Any ideas how to get the insert out?

update
Sorry it took me so long to get everything back to gether but it went a little ruff. But all in all I took her out for a test drive and it seemed to be worth it, she runs fine 20-25. Will take her on the high way durning the day to see if everything is working. Thanks otto and everyone else this post saved me almost 700 bucks. Parts and laborer well worth it (175.00) Tools, plugs, and Spark plug repair kit (the time) if I had everything at once would be around 6 hours, not to back for an Accountant

Thanks again, Otto! One question: my '02 has the 4 head threads, but I noticed the plugs have a heap of threads. Do these extra plug threads just stick down into the cylinder.

i broke a bolt(cross threaded) and i was very very careful, that holds #3 coil, engine runs fine, how can i get it out and tap the hole for a new screw?
the others are a little crossed as well, i don't normally screw up like that...

Great thread. Was wondering if u could help me out. My clutch lost pressure so I went to the master cylinder seen it was empty and filled it. Pumped the clutch 10 times and releases the air from the res. my question is, there has to be an easier way to bleed the master, slave, and clutch. An by bleeding if there are any leaks ill have something to fix. I just know that it is def not my clutch. Any info would b awesome thanks
